Snippets of My Life on Instagram

So over the last few days I have been attending the SNAP blogging conference in Thanksgiving Point, Utah.  And let me tell you my brain is overloaded.  Exploding.  Bursting at the seams with inspiration and  information overload.  It was a fabulous time, and I have lots to share about it…all kinds of tips that I think you might like…but not now.  There’s just too much, and honestly, I’m much too tired!  😉  But I will.  With lots of great pictures!

So for now, let’s take a little trip to Phoenix, AZ where I spent the last day and a half visiting my parents before heading home to my family.  This little stop over was amazing, and just the perfect place for a little post-conference wind down.

I love Phoenix with all my heart.  And every time I come to here, I fall in love with it even more…

The first thing this Northern Canadian wanted to do was hit the pool.  It was 96 degrees here today in AZ which was Heaven on Earth for this gal!  On a side note, it’s snowing at home.  Gah-ross.  Oh, and mental note, be verrrry careful when opening poolside umbrellas in AZ.  We saw the biggest spider I have ever laid eyes on.  We think it was an Arizona Crab Spider.  Can you say d-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g?  I had the willies all night.

After pool time, it was Target time!  Shop till you drop people.  (Sorry no picture of me shopping!)  😉

That night my Dad took me scorpion hunting in the dark.  I did not know these creatures were there…I mean right there…in the rocks…right by where you walk every day.  Willies.  Willies willies willies.  Shiver.  But the coolest thing is, if you go out at night with a black light, and shine the light around you will see them – they glow under the black light.  Absolutely fascinating!

Then it was time for bed, because SNAP and my AZ day tired me out.  I hit the proverbial brick wall.  But in the morning I woke up to this gorgeousness.  Ahhhh…I felt my soul soothing…

And because you can’t visit this area and not take a million pictures of the cactuses, we went for a nature walk.  I love the landscape here…especially all the Saguaros!

And these Ocotillos.  Everything here was blooming or on the verge of blooming.  Did I mention how much I love AZ?  I will live here one day…

As we made our way up to Cave Creek, we went through Tonto National Forest.  So beautiful.  On another side note, I love love the US National Forest signs.  These signs are retro gold!  The best.  I’d like to have a photo collection of as many as I can get.  I mean seriously…how great is this sign?!

On a recommendation for lunch, we hit Big Earl’s Greasy Eats.  Yum.  I had THE best Peanut Butter Milkshake on the face of the planet.  I will dream of it’s deliciousness for the rest of my life.  No kidding.

It was the greatest little burger joint, complete with moustaches on the bathroom mirrors.  Yes, yes I did take a picture of myself with one on.  I had to.  It was there.  It had to be done.  It was not easy lining this sucker up for a photo…I was laughing at myself the entire time!  😉

To finish off this fantastic day, my parents took me out for the most beautiful dinner at Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley.  Everything was beautiful there – all the flowers, the grounds, the buildings and our dinner.

What kind of foodie would I be if I didn’t take a picture of my dinner?!  You do that too right?  Ahem…it’s completely normal…  😉  Dinner was amazing.

I had the best quick trip over this last week!  It’s been a whirlwind of learning, meeting new friends, seeing new places and visiting family.  I don’t want to go back to the cold, but I miss my family desperately.  I can’t wait to get home and squish all their little faces in my hands and tuck them into their beds.  There’s no place my heart belongs more than with my family.  So off I go!

And I’m looking forward to getting back to my regular blog schedule…so stick by…I’ll have things running back to normal in no time!

I hope you all are well!  Have an inspired day!

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had lots of fun! I had no idea that Arizona was so beautiful!! I don’t like creepy, crawly things either. A vacation in Arizona is in the works for me. My husband has been to Flagstaff and to visit the Grand Canyon, but I have never been. 96 degrees in April? I thought that it got warm in Texas!!!

Loved your photos….can I ask how you got that ‘torn canvas’ affect? Was that some snazzy app?

Hi Sally! I really like to shoot my phone photos using the App Hipstamatic. It’s so easy to use, and you don’t have to apply any edits to your photos – Hipstamatic does it for you when you choose what film you want to shoot with. The film I used on the canvas ones is called DreamCanvas. It’s my fave!
