Fall Home Decorating: a cozy fall home tour
Looking for fall home decorating ideas? Take a tour of this cozy fall home to get inspired with simple and pretty ideas.
Today I am joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for her Fall Home Tour! If you’re coming over from Anita’s home at Whispering Pines Homestead, welcome! Anita has such an elegant and gorgeous way of decorating!

Hello and welcome to my fall home tour, I’m so happy that you’re here! I’m excited to show you some simple touches of autumn in my home. This is our first fall in our new home and it’s been fun decorating a new space!
Let’s start on the front step…
So let’s get started out here on our front step. This area is a lot more spacious than I’m used to, so decorating it has been a bit of a challenge…there are only so many mums that I wanted to buy to fill this space, so I kept it fairly simple with 5. On a side note I just noticed when looking at this picture that the bottom two plants got munched on by some neighbourhood rabbits haha

I’m loving the orange-hued mums this year, they just feel like fall. Once I had those placed, to help fill the space I added some lanterns which look really nice lit up at night.

Put a wreath on it.
And of course it wouldn’t be a complete home tour of my house if there wasn’t a wreath involved! This year I made a really simple wreath with dried wheat that I bought at our local farmers’ market. I love the real and rustic feel of it.

Let’s go inside.
Welcome, welcome, come on in!

A fall living room.
Through the main entrance we head to the living room which is my favourite space to decorate…it’s just so easy to change this area for the seasons using pillows, blankets and simple seasonal decor.

My colour scheme.
I’ve decorated with many different colour schemes over the years: terracotta + blue, traditional orange, neutral with pops of colour, burgundy, soft greys, bright + cheery. This year I’m loving amber, cedar, soft oranges and natural wheat, all colours I’m drawing off of our landscape right now.

Reuse decor year after year if you can.
You’ll see a lot of the same decor from past fall home tours, I’m all about reusing…there’s no need to buy all new things! I do like to add a few new pieces just to keep things fresh and up to date, but overall I didn’t really buy a lot this year. I added a few new cushion covers and candles in colours that compliment decor I already had.

My main goal tho, is cozy.
Yes. All the cozy. Give me pretty florals, chunky knits, soft corduroy, faux fur and warm blankets on the couch. Candles, books and tea by the fire. I love fall.

Fall floral TV art.
I wanted to share a little cozy and pretty decorating tip with you! In our living room the TV hangs on a side wall, and while I do not love how it looks in here, it’s there to stay. It’s here in this room that we watch TV and movies so it’s not going anywhere. SO to make it blend in a little better until I figure out how to decorate that wall space, I turned our TV into floral wall art. And it’s easier than you think! See that floral art on the TV right now? That’s from YouTube. I just search ‘frame tv floral art’ and you’ll get a number of pretty options. I like the framed images so it looks like a painting.

My favourite find.
Now turning away from the living room I wanted to give you a quick peek at our entryway, and more specifically, my favourite find…this wood and glass cabinet! I found this gem at my friend Merry’s store, Merry’s Mercantile and I just love it so much. It looks SO much like a cabinet that I was coveting at Pottery Barn but at a fraction of the price. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it in her store!

Finding a place for everything.
I like to keep things tidy and tucked away so this cabinet is perfect for my cookbooks and various trinkets and dishes that I love and don’t want to hide away. The top of this cabinet is also a perfect space to display some of my most favourite candles, a plant and my little Italian art piece. This cabinet makes me smile every day.

Fall in the kitchen.
The last stop in my fall home tour is my kitchen. As always, I try to keep it simple and uncluttered in here as this is an active working space. I really feel that all it needs is a pop of fall colour and of course some yummy fall baking! Because really, is there any better fall kitchen decor than a rack full of fresh baked cookies?! By the way, you can grab this really simple 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Spice Cookie recipe over on my Our Tasty Kitchen blog!

A simple fall arrangement.
I do love the arrangement of fall stems that I added to my kitchen. It adds such a cheery pop of colour. This simple arrangement is just a few stems of faux oak leaves and twigs that I found at the craft store a couple of years ago. They look so realistic…I love them, especially when the light catches the leaves.

Don’t be afraid to decorate unexpected spaces.
I added a fall themed macrame wall hanging to the wall in my pantry, which might sound weird but it works! My pantry is an open walkway to both my kitchen and my back hallway where the office is, so we pass through here often. And because all my pantry goods are neatly tucked away behind closed cabinets, this little space is perfect for unexpected decor like this hanging. I love that I can see it when I’m working in the kitchen or sitting at our dining table.

Happy fall!
Thank you for coming along on my home tour, I hope you feel inspired to add some simple fall touches to your own home!
