Unexpected Pretty Colours for Fall
This year I decided to add a bit more colour to my fall decor so I bought 2 teal pillows and went from there! Teal for fall? Yes. I thought they would add the perfect pop of colour amongst the more rich, muted colours of fall. And really, teal matches with everything.
I love how pretty they looked mixed in with all the other rich fall colours in this space!
Layer in Cozy Blankets and Pillows
Once I figured out what look I was going for this fall, I got busy with the rest of my living room. I always start with pillows and blankets because they are the easiest to change and make the most impact. And with the sudden arrival of fall here, cozy blankets and pillows are a must! Fall where I live means that we’re heading into cold temperatures and impending snow, so I like to load our couches with pillows and enough soft blankets for everyone…it gets chilly here reallllllly fast. Seriously, one day it’s 30 degrees C, and the next it’s below freezing.
So naturally this means as many pillows and throw blankets as I can get onto my couches before anyone complains there are too many! But really, can you have too many? No.
Put a Wreath on it!
Now that the pillows are arranged, it’s time to put together my mantel. I like to leave my fireplace mantel really simple to balance the rest of the decor in my living room. With the bookshelves and everything else, things can quickly start to feel cluttered. So to keep it simple I added my Fall Flower Wreath that I made this year specifically to match my new teal pillows.
The teal ribbon on the wreath matches my pillows perfectly…I love how it ties everything together! Then once the wreath was placed I added a few simple things like candles, pumpkins and a stack of wood. Just enough.
Add A Fall Flower Arrangement
No home tour is complete without a beautiful flower arrangement! When it comes to fall I completely embrace all the rich, muted colours of the season…and that means with my flowers too. I have a deep love of grasses and unexpected flower stems which are perfect for fall bouquets! Doesn’t it look gorgeous in my fall living room?! It matches perfectly! You can see how I put together this gorgeous rustic arrangement here.
All the Cozy Details!
After flowers, I add more little details to make this space ultra cozy…this means fall scented candles, scattered fall stems, mini pumpkins, small neutral knick knacks, and of course a cozy spot for tea.
Nothing left to do but turn the fireplace on and get cozy! I love fall.
