Come on in, it’s cozy in here!
I’d love to welcome you into my home starting at our front porch. I had high hopes of repainting the porch this summer but somehow it’s fall and I didn’t manage to get around to it haha! And as you can see it really does need paint but I guess it will have to wait until next season. That’s just real life isn’t it! But that didn’t stop me from filling this space with gorgeous fall mums, pumpkins and cozy fall decor (I’m going to share more of our porch with you next week). I love how it looks and how it brings a smile to my face when I come home.
Fall in My Kitchen
I try to sprinkle fall all throughout my home but most of it is concentrated to my main floor which consists of my living room and kitchen area. And because this space is really all in the same room I decorate everything, including the kitchen. I always like to welcome in different seasons in the kitchen with seasonal decor.
Natural Fall Decor
And honestly, especially in fall, the decorating comes naturally. I find myself buying pumpkins and squash and fall flowers for use anyway, which also all happen to make the most perfect decorations. These pumpkins, which look fantastic as a table centrepiece, will turn into pumpkin pie soon…
Shop around home.
I also try not to buy too many things each season, instead I like to ‘shop’ around my home first. I go through my fall decoration bins for things to reuse, and I also just move around things that work in different areas…things like this gorgeous yarn wall hanging. Originally had it hanging in my office space, but the colours of it are SO perfect for fall so I decided to hang it in my kitchen nook.
My kitchen is busy.
I’m busy baking, pickling and cooking so my kitchen needs to be functional. This means that I keep commonly used ingredients, cutting boards, mixers and cookbooks on my counter through all seasons. I want my kitchen to look like fall but it has to be practical too. So I just take this time to deep clean, refill the bins, switch out the cookbooks to more seasonal ones, then I add some fall squashes and flowers to make it pretty for fall.
Then I finished things off with a couple new fall tea towels and a pretty pumpkin casserole dish that I can hardly wait to fill with a delicious recipe for Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks (Thanksgiving in Canada is in early October)!
Set the table for fall.
I also wanted to show you our eating nook with the table set for fall. I found an amazing set of dishes at a local thrift shop and used them to create a simple table perfect for Sunday dinner, Thanksgiving or any special fall meal. You can see more of this pretty table setting in my post here…I hope you can check it out!
Simple, soft fall colours. I love how this table setting came together.
My Cozy Fall Living Room
Turning around from the kitchen, we’re now in my living room. Again, I didn’t do too much decorating in this space, just enough to look and feel cozy for fall.
With the rug pattern in here being so busy, I really try to keep the rest of the decorating to a minimum. So all I I did was add some new burnt orange fall pillows to the couch and layered them in with some pillows I had from previous years.
Then I filled our bookcase shelves with stacked firewood which matches SO PERFECTLY with my new pillows. I love love love how it looks together.
To finish the look off I added more mini pumpkins, some candles and my DIY Fall Wreath to my mantel.
There you have it, my home decorated for fall. It feels so nice to get cozy inside for fall…I really love decorating this time of year. And I’m so happy to have had you here taking a tour through my fall home! I hope you left feeling inspired to add a touch of fall to your own space. Happy Fall friends! xo
