Lemon Mousse Recipe Tips

  • LEMON: Use 1 fresh lemon. You will need both the lemon zest and the fresh lemon juice.
  • WHIPPING CREAM: Use heavy cream for the whipped cream. I prefer to use homemade whipped cream as I find that many pre-made whipped creams can be a bit watery and could have an effect on the creamy texture of this dessert.
  • CREAM CHEESE: Use an 8 oz block of cream cheese.
  • STORAGE: Keep this dessert in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. Just make sure to cover it with plastic wrap to keep it fresh.
  • WHY ISN’T THE MOUSSE YELLOW? The ingredients in this mousse are not really yellow in colour…fresh lemon juice is very pale yellow and will not add much colour. If you want the mousse to be more yellow you can add a drop of yellow food colouring to the mixture. Or you can add some lemon curd.

  1. This sounds SO good! I used to be *obsessed* with chocolate mousse – it was my favourite dessert – but as I’ve gotten older, chocolate tends to upset my stomach 😭 Luckily, I LOVE lemon desserts even more! So, lemon mousse is the perfect replacement! Definitely going to have to save this for later. It sounds so refreshing, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop eating it if it’s as good as it looks 😋
