Flank Steak Marinade Recipe Tips:
Marinades are perfect for inexpensive cuts of steak like flank and skirt steaks. Here are some tips for marinating!
- I like to marinate my steaks in a disposable ziplock bag. It’s easy, fuss and mess free. Also, having the marinade and the meat in a bag makes it really easy to massage the sauce into the meat.
- For best results, let the steaks marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, but overnight is best.
- Make sure to massage the bags a couple of times during the marinating time, as this helps to ensure that the steak will be coated in the marinade as much as possible.
- Right before you are ready to grill, give the steaks one last good massage in the marinade.
- You can freeze your steaks in the marinade. When you are ready to use them, just thaw the steaks in the fridge until they are completely unfrozen.

How to Barbecue Flank Steaks
Now that your steaks are marinated, it’s time to barbecue! Here is our easy method for a tender and perfectly grilled steak!
PrintHow to Barbecue Flank Steaks
Grilling Flank Steak is quick and easy! Here are some step by step instructions.
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 6 servings 1x
- Category: Barbecue
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb marinated flank steak (use any of your favourite marinades)
Instructions
- After your steaks are marinated, and you’re ready to grill, preheat your barbecue to high heat.
- Brush the grill with a little bit of oil, then add your steak, sear it on both sides, then turn down the heat to medium, and cook each side about 7 minutes, so roughly 15 minutes total. We like ours slightly pink inside, so if you prefer yours more well done, just cook it a little longer.
- Note: marinated flank steaks will flare the first time you set them on the grill! Just be prepared for that.
- Once the steak is done, remove it from the barbecue, cover it in tin foil and let it rest about 5 minutes before you slice it up and serve it.
- When slicing flank steak, make sure to cut against the grain of the meat.
