These cookies are made with just 2 main ingredients: mashed ripe bananas and oats. No eggs, no flour, just 2 simple ingredients. They have a chewy texture from the oats, and they’re full of delicious banana flavour. They are delicious just as is, but you can also add extra ingredients for extra flavour if you wish…things like chocolate, extra fibre, coconut, nuts…endless possibilities. We love them as breakfast cookies.

We like these cookies as a quick breakfast, especially on busy mornings they’re perfect to grab and go! My kids love them. They also make a great afternoon snack.


Banana Oatmeal Cookies Recipe Tips
- BANANAS: Use 2 large ripe bananas. Overripe bananas are perfect.
- OATS: I use quick oats, but you can also use rolled oats.
- NO SUGAR? Nope, these cookies do not have any added sugar because they don’t need it. The bananas provide enough sweetness.
- GLUTEN-FREE: These are naturally gluten-free if you use gluten-free oats.
- DOUBLE IT! This recipe is easily doubled or even tripled.
- STORAGE: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge if you like. They last for up to 5 days.
- FREEZING: These cookies freeze well. Store in an airtight container or ziplock bag for up to 3 months.

Optional Ingredients
The base for these 2-ingredient cookies is mashed banana and oats. But the great thing about these cookies is that you can add other ingredients to them. Here are some tasty add-in ideas (use about 1/2 cup total of add-ins):

Ingredients
Base Cookie:
- 2 large bananas mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1 1/2 cups oats quick oats or rolled oats
Optional Additions: (see tips for more ideas)
- use about 1/2 cup total of add-ins
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp ground flax
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mash the bananas.
- In a large mixing bowl add the oats, then stir in the mashed banana.
- Add any additional ingredients you would like (see notes).
- Mix well.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Drop the cookie dough by the spoonful on to the baking sheet. You can fit 12 to a sheet as these cookies don’t spread out.
- Gently press the batter down.
- Bake for 13 – 15 minutes, the bottom edges should be lightly golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack then enjoy!
