Blue and Green Spring Home Tour
A Blue and Green Spring Home Tour with pops of fresh spring colours that make a home feel like spring indoors. Come get inspired!
Today I am joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for her Spring Home Tour, and I’m so excited to have you here along with us! If you’re coming over from Lori’s home at The Stonybrook House, welcome! Lori’s home is so beautifully decorated for spring with soft pinks, greens and fresh flowers!
As part of this tour, I’m sharing my living room, dining room and home office all decorated for spring. And I mean spring very lightly because where I live, at this exact moment we still have 2 feet of snow, it’s currently snowing, and the temperature is -20 degrees C (or -4 degrees F for my U.S. friends). But don’t fret, it’s spring inside and it’s nice and warm. Come on in!
Spring in the living room
My living room is where I like to start my seasonal decorating. It’s the focal point of our main living space and where we spend the most time. It’s also the most fun to decorate.
My living room decor has changed quite a few times over the years…I should probably do a home tour of all the rugs I’ve had in here haha! But what has remained the same is my love of couch cushions. For me, they’re the easiest way to add colour and a touch of whatever season we’re in.
This time of year I always crave colour, especially green. Outside it’s all greys and browns, but inside it’s green and blue…the colours of spring grass and summer skies and I’m here for it.
Decorate with what you have!
I tried to ‘shop’ my home as much as I could while I decorated for spring. We’re moving to a new home in the fall so I don’t really want to spend much money on home decor right now. But I prefer to no-spend decorate as much as I can anyway, it just makes sense. So really, the only new things I added are the bunny pillows and one wooden bunny decoration. The rest of the decor I already had…I just moved around plants, used the same blue pillows that appeared in my fall home tour, and that’s really it. I tried to keep it simple.
Touches of Easter
As I mentioned above, the only new items I added were a few Easter things. I realized that I don’t have much in the way of simple Easter decor. As my kids get older, the stuff I used to put out doesn’t suit us anymore, and I really want more of a subtle Easter holiday look…with quiet neutral colours and just a few decorations.
Plants make a room feel alive!
And so do puppies who end up in 50% of your photos because they need to be where you are at all times haha! Anyway, when the ol’ pandemmy hit I started to buy more plants for inside my home. At the time I figured since we were hanging out closer to home more than we used to, why not start a little indoor garden…I love the feeling plants add to a room. And somehow over time I amassed quite a few plants which is nice, now I can move them around to different rooms. And what better time to do this than at the start of spring. They add so much life.
Now into the dining area we go…
A Spring Table Setting.
I always say this in my home tours, but it’s just the truth so I’m saying it again. I just cannot decorate my living room without decorating my dining area. They’re attached, you can’t see one without the other, so I have this need to make it all match. So to do this, I created a really simple spring tablescape with pops of fresh green and touches of Easter, and it ties everything together really nicely.
Shop your home!
I say this all the time, but I TRULY believe this…shop your home for decor! We all have so many things around our homes that can be moved around made to look fresh and new in a different space. Or revive a look by adding a few new things to stuff you already have.
A simple green themed table setting for spring.
That’s exactly what I did for this spring table setting. The only new things on this table are the green flowers and the bunny napkins. I already had everything else stashed away in bins. The cups and glasses have made appearances in other spring and fall home tours. I bought the little bird nests over 15 years ago, and the little green bunnies are from an old wreath I made…and somehow everything seems to have made their way into this pretty green-themed tablescape and I love it.
I’m really looking forward to Easter this year…I’m going to be in Phoenix with my youngest son visiting my parents for the Easter weekend. Then we’re going to have a delayed Easter feast with my little family of 5 when we get back. Complete with a full dinner, treats and so much fun. Easter food is the best.
And now I’ll be ready with a simple Easter table that I can recreate in minutes.
A touch of spring in my office.
I really wanted to share my office space in this spring home tour because I love it here. Especially this time of year when the sunlight pours in and everything just looks so bright and airy. I also spend a lot of time here working, so it’s nice to get it all cleaned up to show to you haha! (blog tours are the BEST way to get a house cleaned lol)
This room is also where most of my indoor garden lives. I’ve only shown you a few of the plants I’ve got in this space…behind the scenes there is quite a tropical garden!
This is where I work…my blog is my full time job so this space sees me a lot. Thank goodness I like it here. 😉
Thank you so much for taking a little tour of my spring home. When I share these tours my real hope is to inspire you to see your home in a new way, and hopefully add a touch of the season to your spaces! It can be as simple as adding fresh flowers, a new plant or a pillow. Happy Spring!
More spring inspiration!
