Rhubarb Cranberry Gin Christmas Cocktail

On a recent trip to London, England, I had the most delicious drink called a Christmas Crumble. It was so good, I just knew I had to recreate it for Christmas here. The flavours of rhubarb, cranberry, lemonade and gin go together so perfectly! This drink is tangy, sweet and delicious. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Rhubarb Cranberry Gin Christmas Cocktail Recipe Tips

  • Rhubarb Gin. We use Rhubarb Ginger Gin for this cocktail, but you can use Rhubarb Gin, Rhubarb Cranberry Gin or whatever you can find.
  • Cranberry Juice. Use real cranberry juice, not cranberry cocktail. The flavour is much better.
  • Sparkling Lemonade. I really like the lemon flavour this adds to the cocktail, but you can substitute it with 7-Up or Sprite.
  • Sugar the rim! You don’t have to do this, but it takes this delicious cocktail to the next level! See tips below for how to do this.
  • Lemon Twist Garnish. This is such a nice addition to the cocktail…it looks so pretty. See below for how to make them.
  • Fresh Cranberries. These berries always make holiday drinks so festive! I like to cut them in half, just because I like how it looks.

How to Make a Sugar Rim for Cocktails.

Use a low bowl or plate with ledges, making sure it is wide enough to fit the glass you are using. Add enough white sugar to ensure the rim gets coated, about 1/4 inch deep. Now you want to wet the rim so the sugar will stick. To do this, I like to take a small lemon slice, then rub it along the entire rim of the glass, being careful keep the lemon juice about 1/4 inch deep. Then dip your glass in the sugar and gently roll the sides to ensure full coverage of sugar. So pretty.

How to make a Lemon Twist Garnish.

Adding a lemon twist garnish to this cocktail makes it so pretty! You can make one a couple of ways:

  • Cut a slice of lemon, about 1/8 -1/4 inch wide. Remove the peel, gently scrape away the white pith, then twist the rind into twirly shape (you can wrap it around a chopstick or straw).
  • Or if you have a citrus zester you can make a twist using that.
  • Some people like to use a vegetable peeler.
