Whole Wheat Cinnamon Sugar Chips

Whole Wheat Cinnamon Sugar Chips

I had a hankering for a snack. But what else is new? I didn’t want to eat potato chips (they make me feel gross after), but I wanted something crunchy and sweet. Oh and cinnamon-y.  And did I mention sweet? Oh, and healthy too?  Is that even possible…well kind of?

Whole Wheat Cinnamon Sugar Chips

I stared at the pitas on my counter wondering hmmmm… what can I do with these…? Chips.  Turn them into chips. Simple. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be yummy!

Ingredients

  • whole wheat pitas
  • vegetable or canola oil
  • sugar
  • cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cut the pitas in half (like in the picture above), and very carefully separate the two sides from each other.
  2. Brush one side of each pita piece with the oil.
  3. Generously sprinkle on the cinnamon and sugar.
  4. Cut the pitas in half again, then into small chip sized pieces.
  5. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 6-8 minutes. Make sure to watch them very carefully. They basically go from not being done to burnt in 2 seconds flat!
  6. Eat!

  1. Thank you for this recipe, which I just made (used a bought version of apple/cinnamon sugar, which is really good).
They are excellent, especially with a chickpea/chocolate dip from Chocolate Covered Katie – I will be serving it on Saturday, but am not sure if either chips or dip will last that long 🙂

  2. I have been waiting to find an easy recipe for dessert pita! Thanks so much for posting this one! They look delicious and they also look easy to make, which gives me way more motivation to try them!

  3. These look super yummy! They kind of look like cinnamon toast crunch cereal. I will have to try them, my son loves cinnamon toast crunch.
