My Winter Mantel
Create a Winter Mantel to bridge the seasons! Christmas is put away, and Valentines Day is still weeks away…so what to do…let’s decorate for winter.
I think there is never a bad time for decorating. It helps me to look forward to the changing seasons and upcoming holidays. It’s especially helpful during the loooooooooong winters/springs we have here. Basically our winters start in October/November and they don’t end until May…for reals. And it can be (I mean IS…who are we kidding here) very very tedious and depressing. So I decorate. It makes the house cheery and puts a smile on my face.
This year, like in other years mantels, I ‘shopped’ around my home. I certainly have enough stuff that I don’t need to buy anything new…so I scoured my decorations, and went room to room looking for things that would work. I knew I wanted white, and earthy…
Do you decorate all year round?
very pretty. I love the purity of the white. Very serene.
I just love your winter mantle. Its so elegant. Have a great week.

Love your Winter mantel. We do one as well. There is just something about decorating for each of the seasons that really speaks to me.
I love it! It has such a nice earthy feel to it, but is elegant at the same time! I love the chippy window – what a find! You have a real talent!
Absolutely lovely Jo-Anna, you have such an enlightening flair for decor !
Your mantel looks very nice. Yes, I do decorate all year round for the different seasons. Kathy
You’ve got more snow on your mantel then I have in my section of Ontario!! I miss the snow we usually have this time of year!
Thank you for the inspiration! We just tucked Christmas away and the mantel is looking a bit forlorn. I just love your snowflakes. Did you make them? ~Kelly

I love your mantel! I’ve been looking for inspiration to update my Winter decor and the rustic simplicity of your mantel really appeals to me. I pinned it to my new “Winter” board and shared it over on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheCozyOldFarmhouse Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi,
I really like the bookshelves in the pictures and would like to get something similar. Were they custom made? Do you know if I can order them online somewhere please?
Thank you
Mike
Hi Mike! We aren’t the original owners of the house, but from what I can see they were built in at the same time as the fireplace, so I think they’re custom built.
Thanks for your prompt reply. I’ll google a bit here and there trying to find something similar and ready to be installed.
Enjoy your day.
Good luck! 🙂
I just love your mantle! It looks like winter for sure. I don’t suppose you might have a link to for the trees or snowflakes? They are just gorgeous! Thanks and Happy New Year!
Hi Shirley! I wish I could give you links for those, but I bought them at a local greenhouse years ago, so they would be long gone. Sorry! Happy New Year to you too!
Is your bookshelf surrounding your fireplace a built-in or were they cabinets designed to be a built in? I have just about the same set-up but with brick, even the same mantel (mine is natural color but looking to paint it white).
Hi Sydney! They are a built-in that came with the house…I love them so much!
