Simple Summer Mantel
A couple of weeks ago, my Mom & I hit an ‘antique’ sale in their countryside neighbourhood. I figured since I was looking for country & farm inspired treasures, what better place than out there! And I wasn’t disappointed!
If you are a regular reader, you probably already know about my love of all things ‘farm’ inspired! I have been slowly collecting treasures, including my little distressed table, and I was on the hunt for a weathered window frame. What did I spy? A treasure! A perfectly distressed, white (because I have to have white), beautiful window frame.
GORGEOUS. $4. Yes please. (This is where that Ikea ad comes to my mind: ‘Start the car! Start the car!’)

Gorgeous no?! |
I tossed around the idea of spray painting it with Varathane, like I did my table, but decided I didn’t need to since it wasn’t going to be used for anything except decoration.
But what I did envision that it needed was some chicken wire. So 5 minutes before we were about to head home, I spied a roll of chicken wire in my parents garage. Snip. Snip. All set.
Total project cost $4. Whoot! Time it took to put it all together. 5 minutes. Double whoot! It was almost too easy. But this frame is exactly what I had envisioned for my home!

Love the chicken wire! Love the chippy paint. Just love. |

Lovely. I just wanted a fresh and clean look for the hazy part of summer. Except I think it’s missing something! Keep reading! |

I had to add this pretty peony. Something was missing on my mantel, then I remembered this old bottle that I bought at that same sale. It’s an old cough syrup bottle. Perfect for single stems!
My mantel again, with a little change I think that it needed!
Perfect now. Do you redecorate for the seasons? Are you always moving things around like I am? It’s a bad habit I have, I tell ya!

So pretty!!! I am doing the glass thing. I am always changing things around. =0) I have been doing it since I was a teenager. I would change my room around it seemed like every month or so.
Thank-you! I love to change things around too – you sound like me – I was always changing my room around too as a kid!
Thanks for stopping by!
