Soft and Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

Soft and Chewy Oatmeal Cookies
There’s something so comforting about a soft and chewy cinnamon oatmeal cookie. They’re like a hug. Just warm and familiar. So today I’m sharing a hug with you, in the form of these Soft and Chewy Oatmeal Cookies.

Let’s talk for a moment about raisins. Do your oatmeal cookies have to have raisins? Are you in the yes or no to raisins camp?

Truth is that I have always made oatmeal cookies with raisins…I’m not even sure why except I think I thought I was supposed to. But why?! My kids don’t even actually like raisins in their cookies, so I decided to leave them out of this batch, and they were a hit!

My youngest took one bite and the first thing he said to me was, “I’m glad there are no raisins in them”. Hahaha! Kids are the best.

Soft + Chewy Oatmeal Cookie Recipe Tips
- OATS: I use quick oats for these cookies. You can use old fashioned rolled oats, but they create a different texture. Cookies with the old fashioned oats make a chunkier cookie, and cookies with the instant oats make a more chewy cookie.
- OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS: You can add 1/2 cup chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts), chocolate chips, dried cranberries.
- STORAGE: Keep in an airtight container.
- FREEZING: These cookies freeze well. Store in an airtight container or freezer bag.

these are perfect!
These turned out wonderfully! I’ve been craving cinnamon oatmeal cookies for a long time but I never make them because my family doesn’t like oatmeal cookies. I made these and they ate most of them!!!
I’m so happy you enjoyed them!
Hi. My name is Jasmin. Today I wanted oatmeal cookies and found your recipe. They are scrumptious!!!! Thank you so very much for sharing this.
Whenever I make oatmeal cookies, I make two batches. I make one with raisins and one without. The reason for that is that raisins are poisonous to dogs, as are any kind of grape, currants and walnuts. My fur baby girls love oatmeal cookies and I do not have the heart to sit there and eat a cookie, if they cannot have one, too! 🐕😊♥️🐕
This is really lovely Linda Ann! I love to share my goodies with my fur baby too!
I wrote a comment that had nothing rude within it, and waited for you to publish it and yet I see you did not, and I was curious as to why. I did not say anything offensive. I commented on the, ” am I in the raisin camp or the oatmeal cookies without raisins camp.” Was it because I neglected to rated at the top of the page? I was overwhelmed, when I was making these cookies. You see, my puppy dog who is 15.8 years old, loves oatmeal cookies, but she is dying of mammary cancer. I was making her, her last batch of cookies. This coming Monday, we will go to the veterinarian, one last time. I am stopping to get her an ice cream with some butterscotch topping and on top of the ice cream and the topping, I will crumble up some of her cookies. She is going to lie on my lap, eat her treat, and go to sleep for the last time. I wrote that review, because of my baby Honeybear Wigglebutt Weist. My review was meant to go into her scrapbook, as one of our last memories together.
I’m just seeing your comments this morning, as I take time away from my website on weekends to spend time with my family. I’m so very sorry about your pup Linda Ann.
Guess who is making your delicious oatmeal cookies today? I am making them for my two-legged fluffy child and my four-legged fluffy children, including the kitties, as they all love oatmeal cookies. 😊 I’m hoping to add a little bit of happiness back into our lives. 😊♥️
Can I use self rising flour?
I’ve never tried this, but from what I’ve read you can substitute self-rising flour for all-purpose flour, but you must OMIT the baking powder and salt in the recipe (leave the baking soda in though).
I haven’t tried these yet but there isn’t any white sugar in this at all? If I added allspice with that change it
No white sugar, just brown sugar. Allspice would definitely change the flavour, but if it’s a spice you like, go for it!
