My Fall Mantels & Home Decor
This year I just couldn’t seem to decide on what to do with my mantel. When I started putting it together it wasn’t quite fall yet…it was close, but really it was just the end of summer. So I couldn’t put out pumpkins and fall leaves because there weren’t any yet.
Instead I put out what was around, which were apples, sunflowers, dried grasses and cozy sweaters.
Mixed together with my Grapevine & Burlap Wreath and some pretty candles I made, it looks nice, simple and perfect for the season.
How to Make Fall Candle Cozies
I bought these yummy Pumpkin Spice candles and wrapped them with pieces of material I cut from an old sweater (the same sweater I used to make my Christmas Stockings). I just wrapped the material around the candles and glued the ends together. Just be careful when burning your candles! Keep an eye on them as they burn down. It might be a good idea just to keep the cozies on when they’re not lit. Keep it safe, but cute! 😉
Pretty and cozy! But then all of a sudden it was fall. Really fall…
Overnight pumpkins were in the stores. Yellow leaves were out on the trees. So I revised my mantel again…
It’s basically the same, but the crows have landed! And the pumpkins have come out.
All the elements of fall came together.
Caw caw! 😉 It’s very different from my mantel last year, but I really like it. Change is good and sometimes you just have to go with what you’ve got!
I also carried my fall decorating over into other parts of our home. I brought out the fall pillows…
And filled the coffee table with leaves and fall magazines from years past.
Wrapped some leaf garland through the staircase.
And put out bowls full of gourds and leaves.
Not even the kitchen table is safe from fall decor! You may recognize this bowl of fall goodies and cinnamon candle from my fall table scape! I just couldn’t put it away!
It makes for a nice cheery little eating nook! All I need now is a slice of apple pie and a Pumpkin Spice Latte…it’s time to cozy up in front of the fire.
Have a cozy day!
Very pretty as always Jo-Anna!! Loving those candles wrapped in the sweater material! So cute!!
Love the fall decor! I love those little candle sweaters! I want a coffee table like yours! Where did you find?
Beautiful mantels, Jo-Anna! I remember how stunning your mantel was last year and your two 2012 variations look just as lovely. Your stone fireplace has to be one of my favourites. Everything looks so cozy around your home for fall!
I would love for you to come check out how I decorated my mantel for fall this year 🙂
All the best,
Claire

Pretty!!! I love the change from Summer to Fall. It’s so noticeable when it happens. We haven’t quite gotten there yet here in SoCal but I am looking forward to it 🙂
Love the sweater wrapped candles! They look so cozy up on your mantle!
Where did you get the window frame from? I’m searching for some right now! Lovely mantel Jo-anna!
Lovely!
Your Fall decor is very pretty! I especially like the candle cozies. I don’t have any old sweaters at the moment, but I might knit or crochet one or two. Thanks for the inspiration. A lovely mantel perfect for Fall. I found my way here again from PInterest.
Lovely …
Aren’t we having the best fall ever? ( I think of it as fall as soon as the kids are back in school because a good half of “technical” fall -sept 21 to dec 21 – is winter in this part of the world). I was actually looking forward to today’s supposed not-so- good weather as I’d be more inclined to stay inside and tackle the disaster that the house has become, but it’s looking like another sunshiny day after all. Those dust monsters and laundry mountains will just have to wait….
