Fall Home Tour with Traditional Fall Colours

A Fall Home Tour with Traditional Fall Colours. Cozy and rich colours, textures, and classic natural fall elements like pumpkins, grasses, mums and more!

Today I am joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for her Fall Home Tour! Make sure to check out all of the gorgeous fall homes from other bloggers at the bottom of this post. If you’re coming over from Doreen’s home at Hymns and Verses, hello and welcome!

Welcome to my Fall Home Tour, I’m Jo-Anna and I’m so happy to have you here in my home! I hope you leave feeling inspired to decorate your own home.

Let’s start on the porch.

I love decorating my front porch for all the seasons…it’s just such a nice way to welcome your family and friends to your home. Not to mention how nice it is to yourself be greeted after running errands, by a cheery and inviting space!

a Fall Home Tour starts on a porch filled with gold mums, pumpkins and a large fall wreath

Mums and pumpkins, oh my!

This year I was drawn to the more traditional colours of fall like orange, rust and gold. So with that in mind I went in search of mums and pumpkins to bring my vision to light. But let me tell you, finding pumpkins in my part of the world at this time of year is very hard. I did manage to find these adorable mini pumpkins at a farmers market, and I really love them. I’ll put out bigger pumpkins the closer we get to Halloween.

Simple and Welcoming.

My porch decor is very simple and only took minutes to put together. You can’t really go wrong with flowers and pumpkins. Once those were laid out, I just added a few filler elements like stacks of wood, grass, and candles, then I layered some cozy pillows and blankets on my wicker chair. And of course, to finish it all off I hung my new DIY Fall Wreath. I love how it all works together.

Now come on in, it’s fall inside.

I love fall most of all.

I love everything about fall…the food, the weather and especially the decor…I really enjoy decorating and bringing fall into our home. The colours, textures and smells of fall in my home makes me feel so happy. Couches filled with pillows and cozy blankets, pumpkin scented candles burning, and pretty pops of fall colour everywhere I look just feels nice. My family enjoys it too…even my teenagers tell me how cozy our home feels…that’s worth everything.

Keeping things as simple as possible.

My goal when ever I decorate my home is to keep things as simple as possible. This means shopping my home and garden as much as I can for natural elements like wood, flowers and plants. Reusing pillows, blankets, pumpkins and candles from year to year.  Then I mix in a few fresh and new elements like pillows and a new wreath and everything feels like new.

Find something of inspiration and go from there.

What really inspired my fall decor this year were these rust coloured corduroy pillows from Indigo. When I saw these I knew I wanted to decorate completely around them…aren’t they gorgeous?! The colour is quintessential fall. And I just knew they would look amazing on our new couch and would match perfectly with the fall pillows I already had. The more pillows the better, right?!

Let’s just look again because seriously…those pillows with the stacked wood. LOVE.

Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow.

To keep with the flow I carried the rust colour to my fireplace and mantel. I filled a shelf with stacks of wood, layered in some candles and pumpkins…it all matches so nicely.

Wreath or no wreath?

Now you may have noticed that the wreath that was hanging on my front door is now on my mantel! While I was decorating my living room my mantel just felt bare and I knew that wreath would be the perfect finishing touch so I moved it. What do you think?

The final touches.

To finish things off in the living area I added a few things to our coffee table…some candles (I love them so much I can’t bear to light them haha!), a couple of small cloches and a little orange pumpkin as the perfect finish.

Fall in the kitchen.

Now moving on from the living room to the kitchen. I always like to add a few seasonal touches to my kitchen. We spend so much time in here it’s nice to make it feel a little extra special as the seasons change.  My kitchen is also just steps away from the living room so it would feel weird to me not to carry over a little fall decor…it’s nice to keep the flow.

Minimal but pretty.

It feels natural for me to add a few seasonal things to our kitchen and eating space. At the same time, I need it to make sense because I don’t have a lot of extra counter space and I don’t like clutter. So I kept it simple and added a couple fall tea towels, a few mini pumpkins and some little fall decor pieces.  Not a lot, but just enough that it still looks like fall arrived.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for coming along on my Fall Home Tour, I’ve loved having you! But most of all I hope you feel inspired to add some fall to your own home. It doesn’t have to be complicated…a few simple additions such as new tea towels, mini pumpkins or flowers can make a world of difference!  Happy fall friends.
