My Thanksgiving Home
Gosh I love gourds. There is just something so charming about all their googly garbled knobiness. I realize that makes no sense…but gourds are just so weird in a strangely beautiful way. Their colours are perfect for fall, and they are abundant in markets and grocery stores, which makes them such fabulous tool to decorate with (not to mention inexpensive).
So that’s why I have them a plenty in my home this year. They’re lying on vignettes, on random tables, they were on my Thanksgiving table setting and now they’ve found their way on to my Thanksgiving mantel and porch in preparation for the big turkey dinner with my family (it was Thanksgiving in Canada this past weekend)!
So come on inside and take a little tour with me…first stop the porch.
I didn’t do much with our porch this year, because in all honesty time got away on me. So I kept things simple and just used what I had around, including the yarn wreath I made a couple of years ago, then I added some pumpkins and gourds that I picked up at our local grocery store. And done.
This little box of pumpkins, squash and gourds is my favourite. It was crazy easy to put together. Love it!
So pretty!
On the other side of the door is this simple arrangement of pumpkins. These will get carved for Halloween in less than two weeks…time is flying! I love our porch this fall…it was simple & stress free to put together, and it’s both cheery and fall-y!
Now, moving on indoors…
I got a little crazy up in here with gourds this year! I just can’t resist the fun patterns and colours that they come in, so I gathered up a bunch and added them to my mantle. Because, why not? 😉
Then I added in some dried corn cobs, leaves and squash. Side note…aren’t those white squash THE BEST? My mom is the winner of best squash found this year! She gave some to me, but she also placed some on her beautiful autumn whites table scape.
I also added a bucket of wheat, a few more squash and the birch logs that I use in almost every mantel-scape…and done. My mantel made simple.
To finish off my mantel area, I sprinkled (if you can sprinkle gourds) more gourds on to the shelves that surround our fireplace. I love their little splashes of colour!
I think the orange colour splashes match great with the new pillows that I bought as part of my fall living room refresh…blue + orange = pretty! Side note: this picture makes me feel a little loopy…like I’m leaning to the right…ugh…anyway
I also decorated my coffee table…can’t forget about this great little piece…I always have so much fun with it at each season. I love to fill it up with seasonal decorations.
That’s my Thanksgiving home! Thank you for stopping in today! I am very thankful to have you here.
Have an inspired fall day!

Looks beautiful Jo-Anna! I love that Canadian Butter crate, perfect! Your coffee table is great, so many possibilities!
For “not doing much,” I think your porch looks beautiful! I really love the tree stump and of course all the gourds! Your fall decorating posts inspired me to actually decorate my house for fall and make a little arrangement of gourds in a pretty wooden bowl in our entryway table.
You’ve done a great job decorating your home – the gourds are all so lovely!! 🙂
