Kia Ora, I love your blog, I’m a 45 yr old, mum of 3 teenage sons. I live in Auckland New Zealand. It’s nice to know a little more about you, keep up the great work. Penny
Hi Penny! All the way from New Zealand – I love the power of blogging!! Thank you for introducing yourself – it’s so nice to meet you!
Geez, you and a lot of the commenters above are so young! I’m the big five-oh. It was *very* scary for me turning that age, and I still haven’t accepted it 8 months later! I live in northern IL and my passions are interior design, writing, cooking and baking, cats, gardening, scrapbooking, thrifting, natural health, yoga…there’s probably more, but that’s it in a nutshell. I’ve been married over 28 years and have 2 sons: one whom passed away 3-1/2 years ago at the age of 21, and another who is now 22 and is a college student. Also have 3 kitties.
This thai chicken looks delicious, by the way!
Hi Melanie! 50 is young too! Oprah says it’s the best time of her life – love that! Thank you for sharing yourself – I love to know more about those who are reading! And thank you for sharing about your family – I’m so very sorry to hear of your son.
My name is Lori and I cannot believe how much I need your blog! I have learned so much from you here and somehow my kids always know when I have made a recipe from Jo Anna’s blog! Your photography is outstanding. I am not kidding! You have a gift! And The Hubby…Do Not get me started! (Hi Brad!!!). Everyday I look forward to your gorgeous pics, your recipes or whatever is on your mind. I am honored to call you friend, to be invited to your table and to giggle my pants off with you. Whatever you do with your blog I will be reading! You can know that is for sure! I too am solar powered, crave the water and love nice people. I don’t remember how old I am anymore…but I know how I feel! Some days OLD, somedays I am still fighting zits and peeing my pants with my girlfriends. It is a state of mind. Love you, Jo! Love you, Brad! (See…I just peed!!!)
Lori! Love you lady! How did we not meet years ago?! I love our giggly get togethers – which reminds me that it’s time for another one soon isn’t it!! I’ll bring the wine. Thank you too, so much for being such a loyal reader – that humbles me. 🙂
BTW, Brad says hi! Bahahaha!
You are truly an inspiration! I love your honesty and depth in your posts, they are such always such an enjoyable read (even for us young folk). I totally relate with your fun and giggly side 🙂
Also, I think if you’re regretting your blog name, I say go ahead and make the change. Like the kids say these days, YOLO 😉

Oh, I love this comment Rachael – so much! I sometimes wonder if anyone even finds me funny, lol! Thank you for leaving such kind words! And you are right YOLO!!
Not sure where you are in Canada but I am in Vernon, BC. It has been 20 degrees here all week, except today is raining. I am 50+ so one of your “senior” readers. I am raising my 9 year old granddaughter (since she was 14 months) and love to cook/bake, craft, knit, needle felt and ride my motorcycle when I am not selling real estate. Love your blog and think sharing more about YOU is good for you and good for us!
20 degrees!! SO nice! It’s not been great here – I’m in Calgary – and we’ve had an 18 degree day, then the next day we were covered in the white stuff again! Got to love spring in Alberta! I love that you are raising your 9 year old granddaughter – truly amazing and such hard work! And riding a motorcycle is awesome!!!! Love it!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment!
Hi Joanna. I just happened upon your blog and good thing I’m seriously going to try the buffalo chicken dip. I have three teenagers and two if them are boys who love that dip. I love diy and food blogs and even though I am 50+ I am amazed at reading younger women’s blogs who have/had the same issues I had when mine were babies. I’m hoping to start a blog soon but I will certainly keep coming back. I also like the personal touch. Oh, I live in northeast Ohio. Good day!
Hi Monica! Oh you should definitely try that dip – your boys will love it!! And go for it and start your blog! It’s an amazing creative outlet! Thank you for reading along!
Hi Joanna,
Just came across your blog today by linking from your mom’s tips for making cut hydrangeas last. Love, love, love the recipe you shared! Will definitely be making that! It’s one of our favorite dishes out, but haven’t gotten it quite right at home. I am not a blogger, just a lurker. I’m always looking at DIY blogs for ideas & handy hints for the projects we do around our own home here in VT. DH and I were raised by the ocean but we love the quieter pace in the country. I am a 40 something, but I feel like I’m 24. The personal touch sounds great! It’s good to see that a blogger’s life and DIY reality is just as messy, time consuming and full of unexpected turns as ours is! Thanks for sharing & I will happily be coming back!
Hi Sue! I’m so happy to have you here, and yes, please do come back, I’d be honoured! And I especially love that you came over from my Mom’s blog! 🙂 I too love the quieter pace of the country – I’m a country girl at heart and one day I’ll find my way back out there – the city just isn’t for me. Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing a bit about yourself with me!
What a fabulous post, Jo!! I’m afraid to admit on my blog that I am on “older” blogger. I’m afraid it would scare away the young bloggers… I love everything you post, but you also are incredibly knowledgeable about social media, how to promote yourself, etc. etc. You have advanced my blog by leaps and bounds. I think if you gave tips on blogging – people would love it.
Thank you Mom! You should never be afraid to admit your age – we all earn every year we have and we should be proud we made it this far, hahaha! Thank you for your encouragement through my entire blogging journey! And what a great idea to maybe do some blog tips…the wheels are spinning, and I just might do that!
Wow, what amazing comments! Feels like I just walked into a room of incredible women. This is my first time here, and what a pleasure to read your post. I have been really “shy” on my blog about opening up – it’s something I really want to do, but find it a challenge to get started. How amazing that you opened up and inspired your readers to share their stories too. And that chicken looks fabulous – I just might make a deal with the hubby to start calling him Brad if he makes it for me 😉
Hi Dani! Aren’t all these comments SO great?! You did just walk into a room of incredible women, yourself included! I love how women can be sources of such amazing support and encouragement! I checked out your blog and it’s so great! Don’t be afraid to open up on it – I say just go for it – it’s your space! And too funny about your hubby, just start calling him Brad and maybe you’ll get your chicken dinner, hee hee!
Thanks Jo-Anna, so nice to meet new blogging friends! Looking forward to really upping the food quality around here now that I’ve found your blog. xo.
