Gourd-geous! Putting Together My Fall Porch

Use squash, pumpkins, gourds and kale to decorate your fall front porch!  Simple and pretty!

Welcome to my Fall Porch!  Grab a pumpkin spice latte and come for a tour!

Fall Porch with Kale, Pumpkins and Gourds

You might already know that I have this thing with decorating my front porch…I fill these pots with decorations on Valentines Day and Christmas.  It’s just so inspiring to switch it up for all the different seasons and holidays.  Each year I try to do things a little differently, depending on what I can find for decorations.  But fall is the best because decoration inspiration is everywhere…even in your grocery store!

I changed up these pots from what I put together last year, but I love them just as much.  This fall I’m loving kale, pumpkins, and gourds, so I put them all together and now my Fall Front Porch is ready to go!

Come take a look!

To put together these fall containers I used 2 big black planters I had for my summer flowers.  I left the dirt in them so I didn’t have to fill up the entire pot, and just laid the pumpkins, gourds and kale on the top.  I love how everything looks together.  I mean, how pretty is kale?!  I just hope it can handle the frosts that are just around the corner!

And the gourds! All fancy with their warty selves. You just have to love them…

I love how they look like cornucopias full of harvest goodness. With all the colours I used match my Cozy Fall Yarn Wreath that I hung on the front door.

I love to decorate with pumpkins!  I bought quite a few because I like to have 1 per family member for pumpkin carving time at Halloween.  And I love their bright punch of orange.  I think they look great in these fall containers.

  1. Jo-Anna, it is gourdeous!! I love what you did. = )

I have a old, rusty metal bucket out front that I put some gourds and other greenery in last week. Yesterday morning I’m out the door to take my daughter to school, and one little green gourd is missing!! We think an animal must have taken it. Who else would? Weird, huh? So today or tomorrow I’m hitting Superstore to get some more and buy a few big pumpkins. Our store just got them.

    Have a great day!

  2. Very beautiful I would love to do something like that but it wouldn’t last 2 days with all the deer that around me. So glad I have your photos to enjoy

  3. Absolutely beautiful, Jo! The colours are breathtaking – so autumny, and so rich! I love your door – hmmmm, I think I’m going to paint ours a dark green – what do you think?

  7. Hi, I just came across your blog on Show and Tell Friday. I like what how you used the kale, it looks so nice mixed in with the pumpkins and gourds. I wish it was a little more like fall here in the South. The kale would probably wilt. Hope you have a good weekend!

  8. Hello! I know I am late to the party but just found your site via Pinterest. Your front entryway is gorgeous! I have been looking for square, black pots but they are either too tall or too small and all of them are too expensive. Can you tell me where you got yours from? Thanks so much, Jena
