Lollipop Pots! Fancying up the Front Step

As you may already know, I love to fancy up my front step for each holiday. I decorate for Halloween, FallChristmas and now Valentine’s Day.  For my Valentine’s Day porch I worked on a simple, I mean really simple little project, but sometimes simple is best.  I made these Lollipop Pots!  They look so cute from the street.  A nice little pop of colour in all the brown slushy mess that is our winter!

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make them!

I found these sparkly hearts at Michaels for 50% off – so they were each $4.99, then I bought 2 dowels for $0.99 each, and some ribbon at $2.99.  For yarn that I used to wrap the dowels, I just used some that I already had on hand.  So the total cost was under $15!

The first thing I did for these Lollipops was to embellish the dowels. I didn’t feel like painting them, so I wrapped them each in some grey yarn.  You could use any colours that you like…red would look great!

Now that the dowels are done, we are ready to assemble!

Using a glue gun, I glued the dowel onto the backs of each of the hearts, then used the pretty heart ribbon and tied it onto the rod.

Then I just pushed the rod into my pot, and voila, it looks like a lollipop!  So cute

Happy Valentines!

  1. Where do you live that there is no snow piled up to your thighs?

My husband piled our summer pots into the corner of our porch. Perhaps something like this would make them look like we meant to put them there…

What a great decoration. I’m going to have to go find some versatile pots that I can put on my front door for all the holidays I’m going to make these for!

    Thanks for sharing!
