Decorating for fall!
I’m decorating for fall! I really enjoyed putting together our mantel and decorating our living room for fall, and I hope you like it! Maybe you’ll even feel inspired to bring some fall into your home this season!
It’s the most wonderful tiiiiiiime of year! It’s fall and I want to shout my love of it from the rooftops. The air is cool, the leaves are changing and I love it. When September arrives it almost feels like the start of a new year…everything feels fresh and exciting. Routines are back, crockpots are plugged in, pumpkin spice lattes are flowing and fall decor is everywhere.
I am feeling particularly inspired this year, so I didn’t hesitate to haul out all of my fall decorations as soon as September hit. And as usual, my goal for my home decor was to keep things simple yet festive, and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money to make that happen. I mean I have SO many ideas and visions for fall decor in our living space, but I do not have an endless budget (wouldn’t that be amazing?!). I really just wanted to make it work with the decorations I had already, but also add a few new things to freshen up our space.
The biggest hurdle in this room is actually our rug…it is mostly blue in colour, which at first I thought just wouldn’t work for fall. But then I saw a decorative pumpkin in Michaels that was the exact blue colour in our rug, and I got vision. Then I also saw a spool of burlap ribbon in the same blue colour…it was meant to be! Blue fall decor? YES.
Last year I made this rustic and fiery leaf wreath, and I love it so much. It’s still one of my most favourite wreath projects to date! And instead of hanging it on my front door or chalkboard wall, this year I wanted it to be the centre piece on my mantel.
So I hung the wreath on my old farmhouse windows with the blue burlap ribbon, which ties in nicely with my little blue pumpkin. Pretty simple decor right? I like it that way.
I also decided to bring out the birch logs which were such a hit on my previous years mantel. I like earthy elements, so I thought they were a good fit for the mantel this year as well.
I also wanted to use my birch branches in my fall mantel decor (I’ve used them on my porch, on last years fall mantel and at Christmas…they’re a great element to work with for all decorating), so I made this simple fall arrangement with them, and more of the fiery leaves. I love how simple, yet vibrant this arrangement is!
In keeping with my blue and orange theme, when I found these fall pillows that Lucy of Craftberry Bush designs and sells (she’s so talented) I had to have them!
The blue Cinderella pumpkin is the perfect colour for my scheme, and I also couldn’t resist the pillow with little red wagon full of pumpkins! They tie in all the colours beautifully! LOVE
I just really love how this room came together this year. The blue and orange combination is actually my most favourite yet…it just works perfectly in my home and looks seamless with our new paint and all my kitchen decor as well. And since our main floor is an open concept, I really appreciate how it all flows together so nicely.
So now I’m just going to sit back, relax and enjoy my view.
Have an inspired day!
