Perfect for Brunch or Dinner!

I’m sharing a festive table setting that would be perfect for a New Year’s Eve Dinner or even New Year’s Day Brunch!  It’s pretty, sparkly and simple to recreate!

Silver, Gold and Black for New Year’s!

I absolutely LOVE the combination of silver, gold and black together, especially for New Year’s.  Something about this combo just feels so perfectly festive for a New Year’s celebration.  And luckily there are plenty of decorations this time of year in these colours, so finding decor is easy too.  So with those colours in mind, I put together a simple and pretty New Year’s Eve table.

The Plate Settings

For each place setting I started with my basic set of white dishes…I love having a simple set that can go with any holiday decor.  Then I layered in a circular gold placemat and a silver charger.  I also added little black polka dot paper plates because I thought the black polka dots were perfect for this theme.  And on each plate I gave each guest a gold rock candy stick.

What to do about a Centrepiece?

Once I had the place settings arranged, I put together a simple centrepiece.  Centrepieces can be tricky for a couple of reasons…where does the food go, and will all the decor get in the way?  Well, the answer is…there’s no room for food and yes the decor will get in the way if you decide to put the serving dishes on the table.  So why even have a centrepiece you ask?  Because they’re beautiful!  But I have a solution for this…serve your dinner buffet style.  Have everyone serve themselves from neatly arranged dishes on your counter.  Or, if you don’t wish to do this, you could always serve a plated meal.

Set the Mood

For this table I wanted the centrepiece to be really simple but I also wanted it to be SO festive and sparkly and pretty.  I envisioned a table lit up with candles and lights, so that’s what I focussed on.  To start, I added some silver and gold bottle brush trees then I layered in some LED candles and a string of sparkly lights.  ALL the sparkle.  See what it looks like at night at the bottom of this post…

SO simple, yet stunning.  I love how everything is coming together.

Decorate Outside the Table!

When I set a special table, I also like to decorate the little nook where our table sits.  I love how it looks to extend the decor to the nearby set of drawers…the wall above them is the perfect place to create a decorative display.  For this space I hung some black paper pompoms and some pretty white and gold hanging fans.  It’s just enough decor to draw your eye around the space without it being too over powering.  I also decorated my kitchen Christmas tree with some matching silver and gold ornaments.  SO pretty!

Put a Wreath on it!

One of my favourite things about this table setting are the sparkly little chair wreaths that I made.  I love hanging wreaths on my chairs for Christmas, so I thought why not make some for a New Year’s Eve table too!  They add the perfect touch to this setting!  I show you how to make them at the bottom of this post…they’re really easy!

Add some noisemakers…because what’s a New Year’s Eve party without noise?!

Sparkle at Night!

I wanted to show you how everything looks as night sets in…everything just sparkles!

How to Make Sparkly Wreaths for a New Year’s Eve Table

One of my favourite parts of this New Year’s Eve table setting are my DIY sparkly chair wreaths.  I just love how simple and pretty they are!  All you need is some wire, a string of sparkly garland, a glue gun and ribbon for hanging.

  • Cut the 20 gauge wire into 2 foot pieces
  • Cut the garland into 2 1/4 foot pieces
  • Shape the wire into circles and secure the wire by wrapping it together…see below in the picture.
  • Wrap the garland around the wire and secure the ends with a little bit of glue.
  • Hang them on your chairs with a piece of ribbon.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share my New Year’s Eve table with you…I hope you got some ideas for your own table setting!  There are so many ways you can make this your own…use your favourite colours…add your flair and personalize it!
