Best Ever Hamburgers

These are the Best Ever Hamburgers, and are a family favourite! They’re meaty, flavourful and so delicious grilled on the barbecue.

This is my go-to recipe for hamburgers. It’s an easy, reliable and delicious burger recipe that everyone loves.

This delicious burger is dressed with fried onions, fresh tomatoes and lettuce, melted cheese and ketchup and mustard. So good.

Enjoy hamburgers all year round!

Burgers are not only for summer, they’re delicious at any time of the year! We barbecue in every season, even winter…sometimes you have to do what you have to do for a burger haha!

Best Ever Burger Recipe Tips

  • Fillers: I like to add oats or bread crumbs (or even crushed crackers) to my burgers because they help to make the burgers a little more moist.
  • Grill Tip: Put the shaped patties into the fridge or freezer for about an hour prior to grilling to firm up the burgers and help them keep their shape during grilling.
  • Sizing:  Keep in mind that burgers will shrink in size when grilling, so make them a little bigger than you think you should. I like to make mine about 5 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick.
  • Freezing: You can freeze the raw patties. To do this I like to lay the raw burgers out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Then when the burgers are frozen, remove them from the cookie sheet and store them in an air tight ziplock bag.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
  • Yield: 68 burgers 1x
  • Category: Burger
  • Method: Barbecue

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lb of lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup oats (or bread crumbs, or crushed crackers)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 12 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the above ingredients.
  2. Shape into patties. I usually make mine about 5 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick.

  4. Grill on a medium to high heat grill, until the burger is well done, with no pink inside.
  5. Serve on a bun with all your favourite trimmings.
  6. Enjoy!
