Product Review: Hoover REACT™ Upright Vacuum

Recently Edited (Dec 2019):  Occasionally I will update a post on a product review, after some time and use. These updates are to let you know what I think a year or even years later.  After about a year of use this vacuum had to be replaced.  Also, it does not work with thicker carpets…we recently installed a 40 ounce carpet and it won’t work on it.

I am working with Hoover to test and review some of their home products, and I’m sharing my thoughts on them! But as always, all opinions and statements in this post are my own.  Today I’m sharing details on the Hoover REACT™ Upright Vacuum, and my thoughts on it!

Hoover’s REACT™ Upright Vacuum Product Review

This vacuum actually has adjustable suction settings, which I really love. I use the highest suction setting because I have 2 pets and 3 kids, so I want to make sure the vacuum is doing it’s job.

The first time I used the vacuum, I vacuumed my master bedroom, the office carpet and the living room rug and the canister was almost full!!  I was SHOCKED at how much stuff this vacuum pulled out of my carpets.  I thought they were relatively clean! Look at that full container…gross.  But at the same time I was thrilled that this vacuum deep cleaned my carpets.  I am also really impressed with how my carpets feel after being vacuumed with this model…you can feel that the carpet has been lifted and dirt suctioned out.

Hoover’s REACT™ Upright Vacuum

Features of Hoover’s REACT™ Upright Vacuum:

  • FloorSense Technology:  You can vacuum seamlessly from tile, to hardwood to carpet without having to manually change the brush speed.  This vacuum utilizes micro-sensors that detect changing floor types and automatically adjusts brush roll speed for the best results on any floor type.  Making vacuuming easier than ever!
  • WindTunnel Surge: Designed to capture dirt, dust and pet hair.
  • Multi-Cyclonic Technology:  No Loss of Suction ensures a continuous cleaning experience.
  • Sealed Allergen System: Captures and contains 99% of dust and allergens and prevents them from being released back into your home.
  • Hoover Tested for Paws & Claws: Hoover’s new REACT line is especially effective in homes with pets. Every vacuum with the Hoover Tested for Paws & Claws Seal meets Hoover’s high standards for optimal pet hair removal on floors and above.  Less pet hair in your home is awesome.
  • Bluetooth® wireless technology:  All from your smart phone (with the Hoover app) you can customize your vacuum’s cleaning performance, and receive convenient maintenance notifications, as well as access to a simple and intuitive how-to guide for operating your new REACT™ vacuum.

My Thoughts and Things to Note:

  • I am very impressed with how much dirt and debris it pulls out of my carpet…even when I think they’re already clean!
  • I like how my carpets feel after they’ve been vacuumed.
  • This vacuum doesn’t come with a stair attachment…I really wish it did though.  This is the only drawback to this vacuum.
  • It is a heavier vacuum, although the ease of maneuvering and steering makes up for that.
  • The vacuum head is small enough in height that it can easily fit under dressers, beds and cupboards, which I really really love.  This means that I don’t have to switch vacuum tools to get into these hard to reach places.
  • I also noticed that it sucks up crumbs along baseboard really well…I didn’t even have to use the crevasse tool.
  • It switches between floor types, hardwood or carpet, really fast which is awesome.
  • This vacuum has really good suction, which by the way is adjustable! I use it on the highest setting.

Where to Purchase:

This vacuum retails for $349.99 CDN and can be purchased at Hoover.ca, Canadian Tire, Costco, Walmart, and London Drugs

Happy cleaning!

  1. I’m in the market for a new vacume. We have a small portable hand vacume, but it’s not all what it promised to be & do. It barely sucks up anything that’s bigger than a cheerio, which is not great when you have 3 kids and are a regular dog sitter. This Hoover looks amazing.

  2. Bathrooms are the absolute vain of my existence, followed closely by laundry. I find vacuuming to actually be relaxing.

  3. I hate trying to keep the floors clean – vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, etc. It’s a never-ending, thankless chore in a house full of pets and kids!

  4. I am totally in the market for a new vacuum. Mine is old and ready to be retired!

My youngest turns 18 next month and you would think that at that age the floors would be cleaner but with his numerous pairs of work boots he can make it a challenge.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  8. There so many that are my least favourite! I would have to say vacuuming is the least favourite. My vacuum cleaner is old and heavy. I have lost some of the attachments so I can’t clean the couch.

  16. Least favorite task is cleaning the soaker tub/shower. I have to stand on a step stool in the empty tub to clean the walls because they tiled all the way up to the ceiling in there and its SO hard to reach. The tub is so deep I almost fall in when reaching in to the clean the sides…ugh.

  17. My least favorite cleaning task is definitely cleaning the bathrooms and taking out trash. Thanks for the giveaway.

  24. My least favourite chore is laundry. I always seem to get busy doing something else and forget it is in one machine or the other so it can go on very late into the day.

  25. Dusting is my least favourite chore. It seems like I dust and when I come back later that day I see dust again. So it becomes a daily job.

    Thanks for the contest.

  27. Looks like a great vacuum. My hubbie picked the one we have now and it does a lousy job. With 2 cats and grad kids, we could certainly use a decent vacuum.

  28. Vacuuming !!
    UGH UGH UGH !!
I can’t even vacuum for 5 minutes without being in back pain.
And the animal hair that sticks in the carpet even after I vacuum drives me insane !!

  30. I hate dusting! ….but I love vacuuming! I grew up with a Hoover in my parents house. Would love to win one!

  31. I strongly dislike cleaning the countertops. It’s a neverending maintenance regime, because they pick up water stains so quickly.

  32. Honestly my favourite cleaning activity to do is vacuum! It’s fun because I make natural scented cleaning powder with essential oils and baking soda and I enjoy the scents while I vacuum it up. Thank you for this giveaway.

  33. My least favourite task is the bathrooms! Believe it or not, I find vacuuming kind of calming, in a weird sort of way! Just found your blog, about to check it out!

  34. I think vacuuming is alright but sweeping is the worst IMO! I wish we had a bigger vaccum like this one because I only have a little hand held one right now and we have a dog that loves to shed! Hah

  35. My least favourite thing to clean is my bathroom (mainly the toilet). I don’t mind the counters and floors but there is something about the toilet… 🙁

  36. I am currently without a vacuum, have 2 dogs and a son…brutal because I cannot afford to buy one right now. This would be perfect for my home, as it is very small, with lots of nooks and crannies!!
