My Word for 2014

This year I choose this as my word:

Simplifya

That’s it.  I’m not putting any grand expectations on myself for 2014.  No resolutions I can’t live up to.  Just one word to help me focus for the next year.  It’s a simple word that I will repeat over and over like my mantra.  Simplify.  Simplify.  Simplify.

Simplify family life.  More quality time together.  Being less busy.  More paying attention to my family, my littles.  Because I’ve blinked and they’ve grown up on me.  This is time with them I can’t get back.  So we’re going to love each other, more simply with less distraction.

Simplify in work.  More home, less work.  Going forward, I am saying no more often.  It’s ok to say no.  Do more of what I love.

– – – – – – – – –

Simplify at home.  Get organized.  As a family…I’m enlisting the help of my littles this year.  Home is a group effort.

– – – – – – – – –

Simplify our free time.  Get back to basics.  Get outdoors.  Read more books.  See more movies.

– – – – – – – – –

Just simplify.  I want to remember what it feels like to sit down and not be thinking of a million things I ‘should’ be doing.  No more iPhone in my hand until 10 at night.  I’m going to read a book again instead.  No more self inflicted busyness…I’m going to be very choosy about what takes me away from my family and from simplification.

Simplify.  And I’m looking forward to it…starting now.

Because this, this is what’s important.

    1. Hi Amanda! I just read your resolutions and I think they’re great…they’re all achievable…just getting back to basics and what you love! Happy 2014 to you!

  1. One of my goals is also to simplify this year. I started doing it later in the year last year and it makes life so much easier 🙂 My word for 2014 is relax. We had such a hectic 2013 at times and I want to “relax” more in 2014 🙂

  2. Funny how we all seem to be in the same spot. I am focusing on being more family focused. More family trips and adventures, family meals, family game night… everything else will have to wait or will fall into place.
    Happy New Year!

  3. I am SO on board with your word, ‘simplify’! I get it!! My word is ‘doing’. I want to spend more time ‘doing’ the things I ‘think’ and ‘talk’ about doing, and my end goal is to have a better daily rhythm established as a result. Putting the iPhone down and picking up a book is one of the things at the top of my ‘to do’ list!!! Happy New Year, and happy simplifying!!

  4. Happy New Year Jo-Anna ! Love your word this year; it’s a goodie ! 🙂
My word is “Be”; just be in the moment. Try not to let my mind race with the on-going lists of things to do.
    Here’s to a great year,
    Elizabeth

  5. Hi
My word for 2014 is CHANGE – change my spending habits, change my eating and exercising habits, change our food waste habits and just working on making positive, healthy changes!
