Buffalo Plaid Christmas Ornaments

If you love Buffalo Plaid, it’s easier then ever to decorate for Christmas with it!  These handmade Buffalo Plaid Christmas Ornaments are simple to make and will look so nice on your Christmas tree!

Today I’ve joined in with a talented group of bloggers and we’re busting out the Christmas decorations…specifically handmade ornaments!  Thank you to Krista of Happy Housie for organizing!  Make sure to take a tour through all the beautiful ornaments at the bottom of this post.

I’ve been really excited to start welcoming Christmas into our home this year.  It seems like every year, the decorating starts a little earlier.  But it’s hard not to get into the Christmas spirit when it’s winter where you live…we’ve already had winter storm warnings and been shovelling driveways for days.  And I love it. Bring on winter.  And Christmas!

Buffalo Plaid Christmas Ornaments

This year I’m embracing a full on Canadian Christmas, so brace yourself for everything plaid, buffalo check, and all things that we associate with a Canadian winter. In keeping with this theme, I made some really simple, really Canadian ornaments for our tree.

These Ornaments are Simple and Quick to Make!

I actually made all of these ornaments with the craft supplies I already had.  The only things I bought for these were the gingerbread ribbon and the buffalo plaid ribbon.  I love when that happens…when I don’t have to spend a lot of money for crafting, that’s a win! And not only were these inexpensive to create, they were really easy too!  Thanks to the glue gun, these ornaments only took me about 30 minutes to make.

DIY Buffalo Plaid Wreaths, Stars and Bottle Brush Tree Ornaments

For these ornaments, I used little mini grapevine wreaths I already had, cinnamon stars I made (you can see how to make them here), and leftover bottlebrush trees from last year.  Then to make them match my theme, I tied on some buffalo check ribbon.  It really doesn’t get any easier than that!

DIY Buffalo Plaid Spools, Yarn Wreaths and Glass Filled Tree Ornaments

I also made a spool ornament, a white mini yarn wreath ornament, and a glass filled ornament in the same theme.  I especially love the mini yarn wreath.  (I made a bunch of the mini yarn wreaths a few years ago, and I just love them…you can find the tutorial for them here.)  I also like the look of glass ornaments filled with different holiday decorations…the great thing about them is that you can change them up when you change your decor.  So simple.

But seriously, how cute is this gingerbread ribbon?  So cute.  I found this roll at Michaels…I couldn’t leave without it!

DIY Buffalo Plaid Moose Tree Ornaments

And because I’m doing the Canadian Christmas theme, I had to have moose on the tree, right?!  I used the moose from my Canada Day cupcakes for this ornament. I just glued him to a miniature winter tree, and tied a buffalo plaid scarf around his neck.  Because moose wear scarves here up north.  😉

These were so simple to make, and are just perfect for my tree!  I can’t wait to get them hung.  I hope I inspired you to get out your glue gun and get crafting!
