Using Yarn: Yarn Wrapped Monograms

I have so much leftover yarn from my Winter and Valentines wreath and Valentines Garland projects, so I was wracking my brain trying to find some way to use it.  While I was organizing our mudroom, I put the kids initials over their hooks, and I just didn’t love them (they were initially wooden ones, and I thought they were too plain, and too small).  Then an idea came to me out of nowhere, and I thought, why not make my own.

This project cost me nothing, but the supplies I already had on hand.  I cut their initials out of cardboard (yes you heard me right, cardboard). I thought if they looked cheap after I made them, I would just throw them out, but they actually look alright.  My daughter loves hers!

The lighting in my laundry loom is terrible for pictures!

I used felt to cap the ends, then I just wrapped them with yarn, and played with the patterns a little.
I think they are cute!

Simple. Cute.
