Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Once you try Homemade Cranberry Sauce, you’ll never reach for canned again! This recipe makes a delicious, sweet and tart sauce that is perfect served with roasted turkey. Perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Make sure to add this cranberry sauce to your holiday dinner table! It’s so easy to make and is ready in about 20 minutes. It’s sweet, tart and flavourful.

When it comes to cranberry sauce, there’s nothing like homemade.
For years the only way I served cranberry sauce was to open a can, mash it and put it into a serving bowl. <insert shocked face here haha> And we liked it well enough, until I tried homemade cranberry sauce. I can’t even tell you how big of a difference there is between canned cranberry sauce vs. fresh. Now, I don’t buy or serve canned cranberry sauce, ever. I know that it may seem like just another thing you have to make for a big holiday dinner, but trust me, it’s worth the minimal effort it takes to make it. In fact, you can even make it days before you intend to serve it.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce Recipe Tips
- CRANBERRIES: You can use whole fresh cranberries or frozen cranberries.
- ORANGE JUICE: Use fresh or premade orange juice. Or if you don’t like the taste or orange in your cranberry sauce, just use water or apple juice.
- STORAGE: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge if you make it ahead of time. Store any leftovers the same way.
Handy tip: Prepare Ahead!
Cranberry sauce can easily be made ahead of time! You can make it up to 3 days ahead of time, and just store it in an airtight container in the fridge. I will often do this because it’s one less thing I have to make on Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner day.

Homemade cranberry sauce is so easy and so yummy! I like it year-round with rotisserie chicken.
Good idea! I really should serve it more often…we love it!
Yummy. I always make organic homemade cranberry sauce. So easy and so much better than the canned stuff. I add a quarter cup of brown sugar, in addition to white sugar, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a sprinkle of cloves or allspice. Use what you love. Smells delicious while simmering.
Oh that sounds delicious!
This whole set up is fabulous! It reminds me of my mom’s cooking! I’m going to have to try to duplicate.
