I don’t know about you, but I love a good sugar scrub! My hands are so dry from all the things I do during the day, and sugar scrubs have always helped them feel and be soft. In the past I have bought scrubs, and the last jar I had was pure luxury. It was a brand name Lemon Sugar Scrub that was a gift and I loved it! But for $60 a container, I just couldn’t re-buy it! So I thought, why can’t I make my own? I can. I did. This Coconut Sugar Scrub is so lovely and moisturizing.
Simple Clean Ingredients
This Coconut Sugar Scrub is pure heaven! No chemicals, no fragrances, nothing that isn’t natural. Just sugar and pure coconut oil. It smells incredible, with a lovely coconut scent. And yes, I did taste it, it tastes amazing too! 😉
How to Use Sugar Scrubs
Apply the coconut sugar scrub to damp skin or dry skin, gently massage, then rinse with warm water. Sometimes I like to use it as a body scrub in the shower. Sugar scrubs are best for exfoliating hands, feet, elbows, knees, arms and legs. I would never use this on my face because it’s just too rough for sensitive skin. Just a word of caution, because it’s an oil, it will make your feet slippery, so please just be careful.

What type of coconut oil to use for scrubs:
Use pure, unrefined coconut oil for body sugar scrubs (it’s solid).
- Pure coconut oil is solid at room temperature.
- Unrefined coconut oil smells out-of-this world amazing!
- Where to find coconut oil? I found the coconut oil in the organic foods aisle at the grocery store.
What type of sugar to use for sugar scrubs:
I just use regular granulated sugar (cane sugar). You can also use brown sugar.
How to store Coconut Sugar Scrub?
I store mine in a glass mason jar, and keep it on my counter (there’s no need to refrigerate it). Just keep it tightly sealed so that it doesn’t dry out.
How long does coconut sugar scrub last?
I don’t have a definite time frame, but I have had a jar last me a year with no issues at all. If over time the scrub gets a little hard, add a tsp or so of coconut oil to the jar, let it sit for a couple of hours then stir it again. Add more if needed.

Coconut Sugar Scrub
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar plain granulated white sugar, the kind you have in your pantry
- 1/4 cup pure unrefined Coconut Oil I use organic, unrefined pure coconut oil
Instructions
- To make this sugar scrub, use a 2:1 ratio of Sugar to Coconut Oil (I used 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup coconut oil)
- In a bowl mix the two together completely (I like to use a fork to do this part).
- Put into a glass container with a lid.
- You can use it immediately. Rub your hands and/or feet with the scrub, rinse and dry. They will feel SO soft!

I made this scrub yesterday – it was great then. Today it is rock solid. How can I prevent the coconut oil from solidifying?
all i could find was coconut BUTTER, it’s all natural though, it says “whole coconut pulp.” will that work too?

You can use this scrub on either wet or dry skin. I like to use it on dry skin myself, as I find it exfoliates much better!

Ok so i have found the solid form of coconut oil refined and unrefined at every grocery store next to the extra virgin , veg. And canola oils. Its reasonably priced i think. I also use it for cooking and scrubs.
May I ask why you shouldn’t use this on your face?
Only because it can be quite rough. I have used it on my face, but I massage it in really gently.
