It’s that weird limbo in the seasons between summer and fall…the time when I want to drag out everything pumpkin and orange, but it’s not quite time. It’s still summer-ish here…mind you it’s the most cold August I can ever remember and it actually feels like fall…and I’m ready to transition away from summer to fall. So I decided to start a little late summer/early fall decorating.
Decorating Between Summer and Fall
I love to use sunflowers as a transition flower into fall decorating. They remind me of fall, but really they’re a late summer flower, which makes them perfect for decorating this time of year. So I decided to use them to make a simple Sunflower Garland for my mantel.
How to Make a Sunflower Garland:
Today I’m going to tell you how to make this simple sunflower garland in just 10 minutes! All you need are some faux sunflowers, a few feet of twine and a glue gun! I bought 2 bunches of faux sunflowers at Michaels on coupon, so they were less than $10 for both. I chose a cream colour to match my fall decor, but you can use any colour you like! Then putting the garland together is so easy…
- I removed the sunflower heads from their stems.
- Then I laid them out along the twine, evenly spacing them out along it.
- I used a glue gun to fix the flower heads to the string…I just added a dab of glue to the back of the flowers and pressed them to the string. That’s it! So simple.
I love how pretty it turned out. It’s just the right amount of fall for my living room space right now.
Keep it Simple!
Crafts and home decorating doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes all a space needs is a little touch of the season to make it feel cozy and pretty. So if you’re looking to add a little late summer/early fall to your home, try making this cute garland…have fun with the types of flowers and colours!
