Kitchen Kapers: DIY Fruit Fly Trap
How to make a Fruit Fly Trap with just 2 ingredients! Kills fruit flies quickly!
It can’t just be my kitchen that has been invaded by fruit flies?! Please tell me it’s not… We eat a lot of fruit, so I guess that means a lot of flies? TMI? All I know is that I have HAD it with them. Time for battle….muwahhahahaha!
I’m here to tell you that apple cider vinegar works to kill them. It does my friends, it really does! In 15 minutes I had 3 flies in the mixture. A couple of hours later, more, then none. Gone. Poof. Good-bye little bugs, I won’t miss you.
How to make a Fruit Fly Trap:
- In a glass add apple cider vinegar: I used about 1/2 cup.
- Add a couple of drops of dish soap (I read that this helps the flies fall in.)
- Set the cup in the area where they seem to be – for me that was by the fruit bowl.
- Wait.

uuuhhhgg I hate those little things. I go to the farmers market every week bearing beautiful fruits and veggies… fill up our big baskets and fruit bowls on the counters. With in one night… fruit flies. I often do this vinegar trick it’s the best way to rid of them!

Perfect timing! I had to fit a swarm of them off my fruit bowl this morning! I will definetly be trying this. Probably put one under the sink beside the compost bin too!
So funny!
You, my dear, are a lifesaver! Just yesterday I was thinking “Do I need to actually *spend* *money* on a fruit fly trap?!?” I had seen one for sale in a gardener’s catalog and was getting desperate. Every year as we start to harvest the garden and I process the food, our house is invaded! I am trying this method ASAP. Thank you!!
THANK YOU! 🙂 Awesome tip. Gonna pin this.
