Yay it’s February 1st! One month closer to summer…ok, that’s a bit of a stretch. But I really do like February…there’s something cozy about it….and the fact that Valentines Day is this month!
I actually really like Valentines Day. Always have. It’s a fun day just to take all kinds of love up a notch…we celebrate it by adding some pretty decorations around the house to brighten up our grey winter. We also try to have a fun dinner like heart shaped pizzas, or make Cupid’s Cloud for dessert. We keep it simple, but in the dead of winter this cute little day is most welcome!
So to kick off our Valentines Day decor, I made this cute and super easy love garland! It has added a pretty splash of colour to our home, and the twinkly lights are very much enjoyed at night!
This Easy Valentines Love Garland can be made in less than 30 minutes for under $25. Super cute.
Here’s How To:
Supplies:
- String lights. I bought these lights from Target (they come with the cute lantern covers)
- Doilies, Valentines Day cards, ribbon (3 different patterns) and mini clothes pins which were all bought at Michaels.
- Heart shaped ornaments. I bought these at Target a couple of years ago.
- hole puncher
- string (I used pink & white bakers twine)
How To:
All I did was punch holes in the valentines day cards, thread the twine through the hole and tied them on to the string of lights. I tied on the doilies the same way. Then I tied on little pieces of each of the pretty ribbon, added the ornaments and hung it up.
The fun part of putting this garland together is that you can put what ever you like on it! Tailor it to your likes…the more eclectic the better!
And look how pretty it looks at night! Warm, soft and lovely!
I hung it up on our fireplace for a simple Valentines Day mantel. I especially love it at night.
So there it is…just a simple and pretty garland. SO easy, anyone can do it!

This is why I need a mantle. Right now all my garlands have been summoned to my daughter’s room hanging off her bookshelves. Gorgeous work and the best part is you can totally reuse the party lanterns in the summer!
I just think this is such a fabulous and creative idea! What fun to create! I bet the kids love it too! ~Thea
