Product Review: LG QuadWash TrueSteam Dishwasher

Dishwashers are powerhouses in our homes!  They work tirelessly to clean the endless supply of dishes we create as we cook and bake, sometimes even working a couple of times a day. They’re a really important kitchen tool, and one I’m especially grateful for.

Recently Edited (Feb 2020):  Occasionally I will update a post on a product review, after some time and use. These updates are to let you know what I think a year or even years later.  I LOVE my LG dishwasher, it’s great!  The only thing I would caution is the colour.  Our dishwasher is Black Stainless Steel and I wouldn’t choose it again…it’s a colour coating that scratches.  In hindsight I wish we would have gone with regular stainless steel.  Also, quick tip…make sure you rinse items that you place on the top (3rd) rack…sometimes items up there that go in very dirty, don’t get cleaned well.

Disclosure: I am working with LG and I am excited to share my review of the LG QuadWash TrueSteam dishwasher with you.  I have been compensated for my time, but as always all pictures, views and opinions are my own.

Recently I was asked to review the LG QuadWash TrueSteam dishwasher, and I can honestly say that I have never had such a beautiful dishwasher in all my life.  Yes, it is possible to have a dishwasher that is not only amazing at cleaning my dishes, but is gorgeous too!  I truly love my new dishwasher and can’t wait to share with you why I love it so much.  I’ve tried a lot of dishwashers over the years, and with a busy household that creates A LOT of dirty dishes, I really appreciate a great dishwasher.  So if you’re thinking of adding a new dishwasher to your kitchen, consider the LG QuadWash TrueSteam.

Why I LOVE the LG QuadWash TrueSteam:

I’m so impressed with all the features this dishwasher has.  From the LED tub lights, to how quiet it is, to all the different cleaning settings, to the adjustable racks, to the fact that there are 3 racks, and not to mention how clean my dishes are!  Here’s why I love it:

TrueSteam technology

First and foremost, my dishes come out sparkling clean.

Clean dishes are THE most important result from using a dishwasher.  The LG QuadWash utilizes TrueSteam technology which cleans dishes with steam from boiling water.  This high temperature steam effectively sanitizes dishes, while at the same time is gentle on them, leaving dishes sparkling clean with 60% less water spots! This dishwasher is definitely true to it’s word of Superior Performance yet Gentle Care.

The LG QuadWash TrueSteam has Multi-Motion spray arms that rotate back and forth while spinning, providing coverage to clean every dish on every rack, so I don’t have to pre-clean them either which is a major bonus!  No one has time for pre-cleaning. 😉

The different cleaning options.

All the different cleaning cycles are displayed on the control panel at the top of the dishwasher door.  From here I can choose a cycle for really dirty dishes, delicate dishes, dishes that just need a quick refresh or rinse, a half load of dishes, Energy Saver, or I can choose an express cycle for when I’m short on time. But I really love the Auto cycle which senses my load size and how dirty my dishes are, then cleans accordingly.  Clean every time.

The lighting.

I love the lighting.  This dishwasher has an LED tub light which activates when the door is opened, making loading and unloading easier than ever.  And it looks sooooo pretty, especially at night.

The Night Dry.

Most times I run my dishwasher right after dinner so my dishes end up sitting in the dishwasher overnight.  This used to mean that my dishes would be wet in the morning.  The Night Dry option runs the ventilation fan periodically to help vent the steam from the tub, so my dishes are dry in the morning.  Genius.

The adjustable basket in the top rack.  Perfect for larger items like whisk and flippers.

There are 3 racks.

I love having the 3rd rack…up until now, I’ve never had a good place to put things like whisks, spatulas and wooden spoons, and now I can put them in the 3rd rack.  This rack is also adjustable, so you can lower one of the baskets just slightly to accommodate some of the bigger utensils like whisks and flippers.

The Racks are Adjustable.

The LG QuadWash TrueSteam EasyRack Plus is such a fantastic feature.  Not only can I adjust the top rack as I mentioned above, but I can also adjust the 2nd rack.  I like being able to move the racks to accommodate different sized dishes.  I have a set of ‘good’ dishes, and the plates are quite tall and until now I’ve always had to hand wash them because they didn’t fit in my dishwasher.  And now with an adjustable rack, they fit!  It’s also a great option for when you need to wash wine glasses.  Adjustable racks are the best.  This dishwasher also has folding tines in the racks, so you can pop them up or down to accommodate different dish sizes.

I should also mention here that the racks glide in and out SO smoothly.

It’s SO quiet.

This dishwasher is SO quiet that I have actually had to put my ear right up to the door to see if it was on.  I’ve tried a lot of dishwashers over the years, and I can honestly say I’ve never heard one that’s more quiet than this one.  The Inverter DirectDrive™ Motor technology is what makes it so quiet.

It’s SO beautiful.

I love the sleek modern look of the LG QuadWash TrueSteam.  I chose mine in Black Stainless Steel, and it fits in seamlessly with my kitchen.  I also really love that it has a protective coating that makes it fingerprint and smudge resistant.  We’re in the process of giving our kitchen a makeover (the cabinets have been painted white), and my new dishwasher looks perfect in my kitchen.  We love it so much that we’re hoping to upgrade all of our appliances to LG to match!

It’s really smart!

The LG Quadwash TruSteam dishwasher comes with the LG SmartThin! Application. This application allows you to communicate with your dishwasher using a smartphone!  So if you wish, you can set it up so that you can be anywhere and get an alert when your dishwasher is done with a cycle.  With the app you can also download new wash cycles such as pots & pans or casseroles and even download your own personalized cleaning settings.

That 3rd drawer looks life changing! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one Jo-Anna. We have been through so many dishwashers and I never know what to look for when shopping. Will look at LG for the next one!

Looks great, can you use the top tray for all cutlery instead of using the basket at all.

    Thanks

Hi Karen! You can, but I find the cutlery cleans much better in the baskets. Hope that helps!

I have an LG refrigerator. We like it. However LG customer service does not exists. They paid this writer to give a glowing report

But why won’t LG answer a few simple questions?

    I do not recommend.

I did not get paid to give a glowing report. Take your issue to the proper people, instead of insulting me.

LG can be hit and miss with customer service. Have had good luck and not so great. Most recently, they actually were going to repair my TV that was 2 or so years out of warranty, and in the end because the panel was on backorder, they actually paid like 75% or so of the original cost I paid for the TV. Of course because prices have come way down, I was able to get a new one, with extended warranty, and have some left over. So it can be hit and miss, but that is with most companies these days,

After looking at many options for a dishwasher to replace my ancient and now failing Bosch (which I have been very happy with), I found the LG with Quadwash and TrueSteam and wanted to know more before I took the final step to make the purchase. Your review was very helpful and now I am excited to get my new dishwasher and begin using it.

We’ve had an LG dishwasher for approx. 15 years and it failed recently. Rather than fixing it (needs a new pump and the main basket), we decided to replace the unit. All of our other kitchen appliances are LG as well so we wanted to stay with the same brand. Oddly enough, for us, the 2 main features we were looking for are: quiet operation and with a handle (to hang a dish cloth on it). This ticks both. Thank you for the review. This helped seal the deal.
