How Does Your Garden Grow? Part 2

Gorgeous geraniums!  I love how they look like the flowers in Maui!

This little ol’ blog is such a great way for me to archive and keep track of things!
I love that I can look back here and see how my garden transforms over this summer season!
  – – – –
I did my first post about planting my sweet peas, then I did my next garden post just after I had planted my veggie and cut-flower garden…
 – – – –
So here is part 2, so much has changed already!
We have such a short growing season that everything grows as fast as it can here!

Here’s a little tour…

These boxes are my FAVOURITE!  I was inspired by an image I had seen on Pinterest, using wine boxes for gardens.  Genius.  We actually have quite a few wine boxes on hand, so I put them to use.  Gorgeous, no!?

I’m a big fan of group planting, so one box is full of these violas,
and because there are so many, you can smell them from the deck!  LOVE!
 – – – –
And the other box is full of strawberries for the kids!  They go out everyday to see if any are ready!

This is one of my little herb gardens!  I’ve already put the parsley to good use!
In here I have parsley, dill, spearmint, a stray pansy plant, verbena (for colour only), and nemesia for scent.  Lovely…

My peas and gladiolas are up!  Still waiting for the beans to show their little faces…

My daughter fell in love with these little moss plants!  They were being sold as ground cover, but we thought they would look amazing on our outside table as a centrepiece.   Pretty!

My favourite time of day in the garden is early, early morning.  This is around 6am.
The sun is perfect and everything looks fresh and smells so delish!

I love, love my hanging baskets.
I originally had strawberry plants here, but decided to move the baskets over.
Don’t they look stunning here?

So pretty!  I bought these baskets like this… all ready to go…

Every year I plant the same flowers, petunias.  I love petunias, and still have them in other pots, but in my deck pots I’m trying something new.  Goin’ outside my comfort zone this year!
I decided to try million bells.  I have yellow, red, fuschia, white, and pink in here.
 – – – –
They look sparse now, but just wait…I can’t wait to see how they take off!

Stay tuned!

  1. SO cute!! Great use of your space. And you can tell by looking at it that it is well loved. What about some kind of frame up the fence for eggplants or cantaloupe or climbing beans? The boxes are wonderful. AND I LOVE THE GNOME!!!

  2. Your garden is lovely. Love your planters and the hanging baskets looks so cute. Thanks for stopping by BC Good Life Wednesdays.

  3. I absolutely love your little garden area. It is so cute and clean [which I like]. I have some of those million bells as well that I bought in a huge hanging basket. They were gorgeous when I bought them, but they are looking kind of pitiful now…any tips? How much light and water are you giving them? I am so new to gardening, but I am learning…

  4. I love what you’ve done with the planting. I recently bought some old dresser drawers at a tag sale. I intend to put dirt in them and plant something(hopefully this year). Take care, Linda

  5. Your garden is beautiful – I love, love, love the use of wine crates….may have to copy that one. Don’t you just love pinterest – so inspiring.
