Good Reads…
I love, love to read, and I’m always in the middle of a good book.
I recently just finished ‘A Discovery of Witches’, and loved it, so I wanted to share!
It’s a story of witches, vampires and daemons…but wait, wait…I don’t want to lose you here…!
Don’t toss the idea of it out yet if you are sick of vampires!
This is a new, really interesting story, that is written for adults, so there is depth to it!
I highly recommend it!
So what is ‘A Discovery of Witches’ about anyway?
Honestly, I couldn’t have summed it up any better – here is a little synopsis written by Daphne Durham for Amazon Reviews…
“It all begins with a lost manuscript, a reluctant witch, and 1,500-year-old vampire. Dr. Diana Bishop has a really good reason for refusing to do magic: she is a direct descendant of the first woman executed in the Salem Witch Trials, and her parents cautioned her be discreet about her talents before they were murdered, presumably for having “too much power.” So it is purely by accident that Diana unlocks an enchanted long-lost manuscript (a book that all manner of supernatural creatures believe to hold the story of all origins and the secret of immortality) at the Bodleian Library at Oxford, and finds herself in a race to prevent an interspecies war. A sparkling debut written by a historian and self-proclaimed oenophile, A Discovery of Witches is heady mix of history and magic, mythology and love (cue the aforementioned vampire!), making for a luxurious, intoxicating, one-sitting read.”

Happy Reading!
Sounds like a good book. I always appreciate when I can get a review of a book. My daughter and I love reading vampire, witches books…we are True Blood biggest fans! Diane
Sounds great! I have never heard of the book before but I’m always on the lookout for a new read!! I’ll put it on my ‘gotta read list’ and will write a review on it when I’m done. Thanks!
Looks interesting is going on my list of books to read. Thanks!
I just started reading this- glad to hear it’s good!
I’m glad you said “WAIT!” because I am tired of witch and vampire books but the summary does make it sound different. I was able to put it on hold (and in Large Print) at my local library. Thanks for the recommendation – I’m looking forward to it!
