Winterscaping

My winter inspired mantel

This year we are being wolloped by winter!  We have soooo much snow, and it is soooo cold.  But I am a born and bred Canadian prairie girl, and I love this weather.  It is what I am used to, it is what I have memories of from when I was a kid, and it is what I love.  I truly love it!  The colours, the sparkles, the blue skies, the white snow, the drifts, the toboggan hill, skating, hot chocolate, fires, even the cold. Call me crazy, but I am embracing our winter this year!  (I will clarify that I love our winters until March, then it is ‘spring’ here, and I hate our ‘spring’.)
So here is my ode to winter.  I have decorated my mantel in a winter theme:  the colours blue and white, snowflakes and snowballs.  It makes our house feel so pretty.  (My son came down this morning and said: “Mom that fireplace looks so nice!  You are an artist!”  What better motivation do I need than that!?)

Enjoy the photos!

Yarn snowballs, so cute and so easy to make
Lovely snowflakes
Bubbles frozen in the lake ice.  (Photo courtesy of my lovely husband!)
The most amazing hoarfrost I have ever seen.
This was 2 years ago on our drive to Grandma & Grandpa’s.
More hoarfrost shots.  It was truly breathtaking!
Through a barbwire fence.  Seriously gorgeous.
At the lake.  The view from the kitchen nook.
Crisp, winter blue skies.
Snow drift on the neighbours roof.
Snow building up on our bench
Blanketing pine trees.
Had to sneak a

 one in!
These are lights under the snow in our pots on the porch.

Enjoy your winter!  I know most of North America is currently being blanketed in it!  Cozy up and stay warm!
