November is here and the holiday season is upon us! This also means that kids are putting together their Christmas lists in hopes of seeing their wishes come true under the tree this year. We’re so fortunate that we are able to put presents under the tree for our kids, but unfortunately many families will go without this year. But we can all make a big difference and help make the season a magical one for all kids, and here’s how!
This year I’m working with Rice Krispies to help promote their fantastic Treats for Toys program. Treats for Toys is a charitable initiative that is running for the third year in a row and involves families across Canada making toy-shaped treats from Rice Krispies cereal then uploading pictures of their creations to the Treats For Toys website, or onto social media using the #TreatsForToys hashtag. For every upload $20 is donated to the Salvation Army, then the Salvation Army will use this money to buy toys for children in need. Definitely an initiative I can get behind!
So how does it work? It’s easy.
- Make: Build a Rice Krispie treat inspired by your favourite toy.
- Share: Post a photo of your treat here, or share your creation on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #TreatsForToys.
- Give: Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army and they will then use that money to donate toys to kids. The more treats shared, the more toys donated to kids less fortunate.
- Feel all warm and fuzzy because you helped make a kid smile this holiday season!

So the kids & I hit the kitchen and made a big batch of Rice Krispie treats to shape into toys!
You don’t have to tell kids more than once to dig into Rice Krispie treats and candy!
This was a great activity for a great cause! Love that.
Even I had to get in on all the fun…
I posted a poll on my Facebook page asking my readers what I should make, and here is what I came up with. If you need some inspiration, go have a look and get some ideas for your toys!
Pirate ships, robots, and rockets oh my!
For more details head on over to the Treats For Toys website! And while you are there, you have to watch the videos, they’re hilarious. Like laugh out loud funny! Here’s my favourite one of them all, but you can see the rest here:
So get your kids or grandkids or nieces or nephews or the neighbours kids, and get making those Rice Krispie toys for a good cause!
So awesome Jo!
That looks like a lot of fun – might have to try it myself!!
Wow, that’s what I was exploring for, what a material!
