I Made A Bag, Well Kind Of…

I needed wanted a camera bag.
So online I went! I found a lot of uninspiring bags.  Canvas.  Black.  Blah.  I wanted something cute!
Then I found an online camera bag store that sells bags for women. And the bags were bee-a-u-tee-ful!  But very expensive. I just don’t want to spend $200 on a camera bag, for 2 reasons:  it’s just too much and I’m not a professional.
But I saw an ongoing theme with all the bags, and that was that they all just looked like a really big purse.  I can do big purses.  So I got an idea, and ran to Winners (at 8:30 in the morning – I mean why not, we were up anyway, and it was between nap times).
I found this fabulous bag for $35. Now that’s more like it. It’s sturdy, and boxy.  Perfect for protecting a camera.

How I ‘Made’ My Bag:
  • I tore apart an old, ugly camera bag that used to belong to my husband.
  • I took out all the foam dividers, and with them, I built my own interior for my bag.
  • I cut out the bottom lining of my bag, and stuffed in a foam board, then used all the inserts to make compartments for camera bits.
  • Easy peasy!

So my reason for sharing this (not because I think anyone should care about my new bag, ha ha), is that I like to have options for everything.  And I think it’s great to think outside the box, especially when it comes to spending money.  We have options, we just have to be creative sometimes!
Now my camera, and all the little pieces that I use with it, all fit in my new bag, and I didn’t have to spend an arm and a leg!  Now I can travel in style and not worry about breaking my camera (or the bank)!  (and I can easily fit in a couple of diapers and some wipes, and I’m good to go!)

I love it!  So fun!

  Snap Happy!

  2. Found you through IHeart Organizing. Great job on “upcycling” a bag. I just started blogging myself so a camera is on my wish list. I’ll have to keep this in mind when I do get one though. Your bag is so chic!
