My Favourite Things!

Hi friends!  Welcome to My Favourite Things!

I had fun with todays post…see my husband wanted a Christmas list from me, so I started writing it all down, and thought ‘well this is crazy and way too much work trying to explain everything’.  So I decided to make it visual for him in the form of a blog post.  Then I thought I’d take it one step further and put together my Christmas wish list along with my favourite things plus a few crazy things that I’m dreaming of.

And because I’m always curious about what people have on their lists and what their favourite things are I thought I’d share mine with you…because, why not!  It’s not quite Oprah style, but it’s fun…man, I adored Oprah’s Favorite Things show every year.  I miss it.

So let’s get started…this is in no particular order…just random.

Slippers

A Fave.  Let me tell you about these slippers.  They’re the softest slippers I ever did have on my feet.  I got a pair at a Christmas party only to have them stolen away from me in the name of a good game…I was bummmmmmed.  I had them on my feet for 2 minutes and then they were gone.  But I had fallen in love and knew I would hunt down a new pair to the end of the earth if I had to.  And I did.  They’re on my feet right now.  LOVE my Faux Fur Slippers from Chapters/Indigo!

Faux-Fur-Blanket

A Fave.  I have a thing for faux fur this year…but it’s just sooooo soft, and I can’t resist its softness!  We have 2 of these Luxe Faux Fur Throw by Guillaume, one for me and one for my husband because if there was only one we’d be fighting over it.  Seriously, they’re the best.  I foresee many a fire in the fireplace snuggled up under these.

Philosophy2

A fave and a wish.  Now let me tell you about my facial skin.  It’s considered clinically dry.  And I have rosacea.  So it’s red and dry.  Which makes for a skin nightmare because I’m so sensitive to everything I put on my face.  For a while I used Oil of Olay, but there’s too much scent in it for my liking, and it just wasn’t moisturizing enough, so I stopped using anything.  Nothing but water because I thought it would be better just to leave my skin alone.  But I was wrong, doing nothing is terrible for your skin.

A couple of months ago I had a skin care consultation with Philosphy…I went thinking that the second they put anything on my face it would turn red and start burning like everything I’ve ever tried.  But the gal took one look and feel of my skin and she put this Philosphy serum and face moisturizer on my face and I felt instant relief.  I thought maybe this was just a one time stroke of luck, but I walked away with samples and have been using them everyday since then.  I also use the Purity made simple one-step facial cleanser both in the morning and at night.

I can’t believe the change in my skin.  The redness has calmed down at least 90%.  It’s softer.  My skin just looks better.  I’m completely convinced and will not stop using these products ever.  Ever.  So these are faves and on my wish list because I want more.  It’s that good.

Dermablend

A fave.  Keeping on the skin theme, I recently discovered Vichy DermaBlend Foundation.  Like I said before I haven’t really done much with my skin care regime up till now, and this also meant I didn’t do much with my make up either.  All because of the whole skin sensitivity thing.  Now that my skin has calmed down from using my new moisturizer, I want to wear more make up.  And because I have rosacea and it will never go away 100%, my face will always be a little red.  And I hate that, but it’s just the way it is, so I decided to try some foundation.  I have never been a foundation kind of girl, ever.  But recently I discovered that a gal I know has rosacea and I never even knew it – she was using some amazing make up!  She’s the one who told me about this miraculous foundation.  It hides the red but doesn’t irritate my skin.  I still can’t believe it.  I love love love this stuff.

Mascara

A fave and a wish.  I love Benefit Cosmetics Mascara.  It makes my lashes go on for miiiiiiiles!  It doesn’t smudge, but it cleans off easily.  And it doesn’t bother my eyes.  Best. Mascara. Ever.  And I’m out, so it’s on my wish list.

OPI-Nail-Polish

A fave.  I love glitter and I love nail polish…and this is both in one!  This Gold glitter nail polish by O.P.I. is so great!  It’s sparkly and stays on forever, which is great for my nails because I’m tough on my polish.  I may or may not have this polish in 5 different colours.  #imateenageratheart

A fave.  I have been a big fan of So Pretty Jewelry by Cara Cotter for a long time.  She makes amazing jewelry, so when Cara custom designed this Luxe Mini Jewelry Handbag I knew it was going to be beautiful.  And it is!  This handbag is a jewelry storage and travel case which converts to a wearable clutch style handbag and cross body bag.  You can use the case for other uses when you’re not storing or traveling with your jewelry too.  I love it because it holds all of my jewelry in airtight containers so it doesn’t tarnish, and it has more space than I know what to do with.  Oh wait, I know exactly what to do with it…more jewelry.  Must let my husband know!  And did I mention that it also holds a mini iPad?  Hey that’s on my list too!  😉  But really, this bag is amazing and would make a fantastic gift for you!

iPad

A wish.  I was never a big believer in the whole tablet craze.  I thought, who needs a phone, a computer and an iPad?!  Well I’ve changed my tune.  I would love to have an iPad Air.  It would be so great for travelling (laptops are very heavy)!  So this is on my list big time.

Veggie-Spiralizer

A wish.  I would love to have this veggie spiralizer from Williams Sonoma.  Since we’ve cut back considerably on our wheat consumption, this spiralizer would be perfect for so many noodle dishes we love.  I’m determined to make my family love veggie ‘noodles’.  🙂

Cookbooks

A wish.  I love cookbooks of all kind.  Actually my favourite is the Joy of Cooking, and I use it all the time…I’m a firm believer that every kitchen should have the Joy of Cooking.  Since I already have this book, I am crossing my fingers for the Julia Child cookbook, any Jamie Oliver cookbook and the How To Feed a Family cookbook.  Can one have too many cookbooks?!

LeCreusetPans

A wish.  I’m loving this crepe pan and skillet from Le Creuset.  We love crepes, but I have never had the right kind of pan to make them.  It would be lovely to have a crepe pan!  And I’d love to have a skillet to take a dish right from the stovetop into the oven…I picture many delicious one-dish dinners!

EpiphanieBag

A wish.  I dream of this bag.  No really, I do.  This Epiphanie bag is a camera bag, iPad case and purse all in one.  Gorgeousness!

Lens

A big time wish.  And to go in my bag, I would faint if I had this AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED (2.1x) lens for my camera.  I want to take my pictures up a notch, and this lens would do that for me.  Crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath.  But a girl can dream, right?  😉

Well that was fun!  Now what’s on your wish list this year?  Or what’s your favourite-must-have thing?  I’d love to know…I’m snoopy like that!  😉

Have an inspired day!

Note:  I received the faux fur blankets and mini jewelry case for review, but if I didn’t love either of them there’s no way they would have made it on to my favourite things list.  Only stuff I love ends up here.  xoxo

  1. Hi Jo-Anna. Since you say you would like to simplify your life — Instead of the spiralizer why do you not try a julienne peeler for your veggie noodles?
