A Christmas Village Mantel

Create A Christmas Village Mantel for the holiday season! Mix and match tiny houses, bottle brush trees, candles and fairy lights. Festive and so pretty.

Welcome back friends! Today I’m sharing my Christmas mantel as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series hosted by my friend Krista of The Happy Housie. I’ve joined in with a group of blogger friends and we’re sharing our holiday mantels with you in hopes to inspire your own home decorating! Make sure to have a look at all of the mantels in the links at the bottom of this post. As well, if you missed any of my previous posts as part of this series, make sure to check out my DIY Orange and Cinnamon Stick Napkin Rings, my DIY Cinnamon Stick Sleigh Ornaments, and my FREE Christmas Planner Pages for the Kitchen.

My most simple mantel yet.

Last year I put together a Fresh Cedar Mantel which I loved, and was planning to create again for this holiday season. But then I took a trip to Walmart in search of some Christmas decor and I found something which changed my mind.

It all started with a little wooden house.

This mantel was inspired by a cute little wooden house I saw at tucked into a box at the back of Walmart…well several little houses actually. As soon as I saw them I grabbed 6! They were only $7.97 a piece so how could I not?! My only regret is that I didn’t buy more, because when I went back later, they were gone.

Christmas Villages are the cutest.

These little houses immediately made me think of a Christmas village so that’s what I decided I would use them for. They were in great condition, except for the roof tops which were a little dirty and had some paint nicks, so I just gave the tops a fresh coat of white sparkly paint.

Adorable.

After I painted the roof tops I put the houses out on my mantel with a few bottle brush trees I had in my Christmas stash, but something was missing…it just needed more.

And of course, with the weird way social media works and how it seems to know where you’ve been shopping and what you’ve been buying, I saw an ad pop up with these adorable white ceramic houses from Crate & Barrel. So of course, I bought the set. They are THE CUTEST.

And the perfect addition to my Christmas Village Mantel. Look how pretty they are.

I think this is my most favourite mantel yet. I love how simple and pretty it looks…and it’s neutral enough that I might even keep it up throughout the winter months. It matches perfectly with my stone fireplace and blends in nicely with the rest of my Christmas decor.

I’m really loving the simplicity of my mantel and shelves…it’s a really nice soft balance to the rest of the room where I have the couch loaded up with red, green and plaid!

The Prettiest at Night

One of my most favourite things about this mantel is how it looks all lit up at night. So cozy, so cute.
