Outwitting the Toddler… A Tea Towel Project
– – – – – –
It’s this thing he does and it drives me crazy!!
So when I saw this great idea with tea towels on Martha Stewart, I thought this is just what I have been looking for and didn’t know it!
It’s a fabulous way to keep your kitchen organized and the floors clutter free!

And the best part is that I actually think these are prettier! I love ribbon and bows!
Here they are!
Easy, easy project if you want to keep your towel secured to a bar or stove handle….
Or if you just want to add some pretty to your kitchen!

And they work. Try as he might, he cannot get them off!
Oh, and they’re great for big kids and husbands too…why oh why can’t anyone hang up a tea towel?!

That’s it! So pretty!

- Just sew strips of ribbon about 5-6 inches long, onto the ends of the tea towel. You can either do 3 strips on each end or 2. I found 2 works just fine!
- Sew the ribbons on by hand or use your sewing machine.
- To finish the ends of the ribbon so they don’t fray, either sew them or using a lighter, carefully melt the end of the ribbon. (obviously be careful not to burn anything!!)
- And as always, be careful with kids and ovens. Keep an eye on them in case they pull on the towels too hard and open the oven door.

Here are some others I made.
I had originally only made 1 towel, and that obviously wasn’t enough, so I ended up doing 7 in total.

Very beautifull towels! Thank you so much for a best idea!
This is so pretty and such a great idea. My boys were always pulling my towels off as toddlers too and it drove me crazy!! 🙂
smart idea!! i feel your pain too! 🙂
Great idea!! I don’t sew, but I am going to con[vince] a friend to help me out. My towel culprit isnt a toddler but every teenager that grabs it and doesnt put it back. They wont stop long enough to untie so that’ll work for me!

Great idea, I’m glad you shared it.
I don’t have any little one’s to pull them down anymore, but somehow they still end up on the floor.
I love me some cute dish towels and that is a cool trick that I’m going to have to try!

That will outwit my lab too,she loves to pull them off of the stove! Thanks!

Genius idea! So simple but such a life saver!
I love these! I just made something similar, but I used buttons so my 3 year old wouldn’t pull them down! I think I might add ribbon ties to all of the rest of our towels! Thanks for sharing.

Yep! You have made my day! I was just thinking about how I was going to somehow attach my towels to the stove a few weeks ago. My little Olivia is a towel-snatching turkey!!! Thanks for the tip! This project gets bumped up to the top of the list!
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing! I’m totally going to have to go do this to my towels!
Visiting from Today’s Creative Blog!
What a great idea! I have a toddler who would do the exact same thing. I’ve had to hang my towels on a hook next to the sink, but this is so cute I might have to give it a try!

Love this!!!
GENIUS!! Seriously! Nothing shy of GENIUS!! I have a toddler as well who absolutely INSISTS that my kitchen towel remain on the floor and will pull it off the stove handle whenever opportunity strikes! This idea alone will probably keep at least one future gray hair at bay!
FABulous idea!
This is just brilliant!! I *need* to do this! And the towels are so very pretty, wish I could find something like that here. 🙂 Many thanks for the inspiration!
Thats such a good idea! My one year old pulls mine off into the floor CONSTANTLY and it drives me crazy! I know what Ill be doing now this weekend!
I saw this idea a while back and have been meaning to do it to our tea towels. They look great. I would love for you to stop by and link up to More the Merrier Monday. It is open through Wednesday so you have plenty of time to link up. http://diyhshp.blogspot.com
So adorable and so smart!
Love it!

nice but i would be afraid the kid would pull on it so hard and open the oven door when it is on and get BURNT
I suppose, but I haven’t had this be a problem. Careful supervision as always I guess.
B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T!!!! I am TOTALLY stealing this idea!! With a toddler and a baby who loves to pull up on everything, I have given up and just left the towels on the floor most of the time, but now I will win the war!!
