Gratitude Sunday

I’m so grateful for spring and all it’s glory!

I especially adore lilacs!

Their scent, their colour!
And their beautiful faces early in the season are so appreciated!
Here I am at it again with my Hipstamatic App…
These are the same flowers with different lenses & textures.
So fun!
Have a beautiful and grateful day!

    Gratitude Sunday

Today I am grateful for where we live.
We are lucky enough to live so close to one of the most majestic and awe-inspiring mountain ranges in the world…the Rocky Mountains.

Shamefully, we don’t get out to enjoy them enough!
But yesterday we packed a lunch and packed the kids into the truck
then headed out to spend the day in Banff.
We are greeted by this amazing view!
    So beautiful and humbling.

River valleys where all you can hear are ravens clicking,
    wind blowing, and water flowing.
    Soul soothing I tell you!

One of my most favourite places to visit in Banff
(and stay at if you are lucky),
    is the Banff Springs Hotel.
There is something so magical about this place.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this hotel opened in 1888,
so it is teeming with beautiful furniture, art and decore.

Not to mention all the history and stories that come with a hotel this old.
You can even take a ghost tour…on my list of things to do…
The kids were especially fascinated by the idea of this!

    Even the bathrooms are gorgeous!
Stained glass windows when you tinkle!

There’s so much beauty on the ceilings too!

    Gorgeousness everywhere.

And fireplaces in sitting rooms and ball rooms
that make you feel like you are in Hogwarts!
Where’s floo powder when you need it?!

After our self-guided tour through the hotel we headed into the townsite
for most delicious snack ever.  Honestly, this dessert is my ultimate treat.
    It’s called the Beaver Tail.
Pure deep-fried dough-y heaven.  I get mine sprinkled with cinnamon & sugar, and the kids had theirs smothered in Nutella & Bananas, and Apples & Cinnamon.
    An awesome indulgence!

And alas, it was time to go home…
Even the drive home is stunning!
See the white tailed deer off in the distance (to the left)!
    It was a fabulous day!

So, I will leave you with this Apache Blessing I saw in our travels yesterday…
…it kind of summed up our day.
I thought it was so beautiful!
    Have a great day!

Don’t you just love that even though we don’t get to the mountains as often as we might like, we can still see them almost on a daily basis? The view as you head out from the zoo is almost unreal, they look so close, and today they were looking especially fine in all that new snow.
And still two more months of skiing/boarding, but biking here in the city…
    Caroline, Calgary too!

Oh my! I stumbled across your post via Show Off Your Shot, and man! So cool! I used to work in Lake Louise, and in fact met my husband there. So this is like a huge trip down memory lane for me. Thanks for a smile on a Monday.

Its funny how we often times take for granted the beauty in our own backyards. Btw, I know what you mean about Beaver Tails; we get to enjoy them while skating on the canal here in the nation’s capital. Love the Apache Blessing! Sheila S.

wow… a view like that is something inconceivable in the a-bit-too-warm-for-april Mexico I live in. Amazing. My son would sell his Harry Potter magic book to be able to go there! And me? I would LOVE to tinkle with such sophistication!
