- Method: Oven
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 3/4 cup chopped onion or shallots
- 3/4 cup salted butter
- 10 cups of dried bread cubes
- 1 1/2 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 2 apples (peeled and chopped)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F.
- In a deep oven proof dish like an enamel pot, melt the butter over low-medium heat.
- Add the chopped celery and onions and cook until tender.
- Add the bread cubes, and mix until the bread is coated in the melted butter.
- Stir in the sage, thyme, salt, pepper, raisins and apples.
- If you find that your stuffing is too dry at this point, add some chicken broth until it’s how you want it. Sometimes I have to add up to one cup.
- Bake, covered, for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, uncover and bake for 30 more minutes, stirring once or twice. The stuffing should be golden brown.
