This Pumpkin Spice French Toast just made your morning delicious! All the best flavours of fall in an easy and tasty breakfast recipe. Made with fresh pumpkin puree, and all the classic spices of pumpkin pie: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and vanilla.


Units Scale
  • 2/3 cup milk (2%, whole milk or heavy cream)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (I used maple syrup)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • bread


  1. Preheat a large skillet or fry pan to low-medium heat.
  2. In a bowl mix together the milk, eggs, sugar, pumpkin, spices, vanilla and salt. Mix well. I actually like to use a hand blender to do this part so the mixture is nice and creamy.
  3. Dip each slice of bread, one at a time, into the egg mixture, coating each side. If you like your french toast firm, coat your bread quickly. If you like it a little less firm (soggy), soak it (this is how my Dad makes it! So good!).
  4. Cook on the skillet for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  5. Serve with syrup and enjoy!
