Italian Meatballs (Flavourful and Delicious!)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork (fresh)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (fresh)
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp parsley
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a bowl mix the bread crumbs and milk together. Let sit for 10 minutes
  3. After 10 minutes add the diced onion, garlic, eggs, and spices. Mix together.
  4. In a large bowl mix the beef and pork together.
  5. Then add the bread/seasoning mix to the meat mixture, and combine.
  6. Shape into meatballs, about 2 inches round.
  7. Now you need to let the meatballs rest in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. 
  8. After this time, place the meatballs on a cooking rack over a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes (until browned and cooked through with an internal temperature of 165).
  10. After this time transfer the meatballs to a large skillet.
  11. Pour your favourite tomato sauce over the meatballs and simmer for 15-20 minutes on low-medium heat.
  12. While the sauce and meatballs are simmering you can start the noodles.
  13. Sprinkle the meatballs with fresh basil and parmesan cheese, and serve immediately with the cooked pasta.
