How to Freeze Onions

Learn How to Freeze Onions with this simple dry pack method. Frozen onions are perfect for sautéing, and adding to soups, stews and more.

Ingredients

  • onions: green, white, purple or any kind (see tips above)
  • freezer ziplock bags

Instructions

  1. Slice, chop or mince the onions.
  2. Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
  3. Sprinkle the prepared onions in a single layer on the baking sheet and put in the freezer overnight.
  4. Once the onions are frozen, transfer them to a ziplock bag.
  5. Label the bag and refreeze.
  6. Use as needed.
