A delicious Easy Homemade Granola Recipe. Simple to make and perfect for breakfast and snacking! You can add all kinds of extras like chocolate, candy or nuts.


Units Scale

Base Recipe:

  • 4 cups rolled oats (don’t use quick oats)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

OPTIONS to add after baking (I used about 1 cup combined):

  • candy coated chocolate
  • nuts
  • shredded coconut
  • chocolate chips


  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large pot melt the butter, then mix in sugar and water.
  3. Stir in the vanilla and cinnamon.
  4. Add the oats. Mix well.
  5. Line a large baking pan or sheet pan with parchment paper then spread out the granola mixture in an even layer.
  6. Bake for 15-25 minutes. Keep a close eye on it so that it doesn’t burn, it should be golden brown when done.
  7. When it’s done baking, let the granola cool.
  8. Once the granola has cooled, add some tasty treats like candy coated chocolate, nuts or shredded coconut.
