Bread Machine Condensed Milk Bread
If you’re looking for a delicious every day bread recipe to add to your baking rotation, try my Bread Machine Condensed Milk Bread! This bread is slightly sweet, soft and super scrumptious.

Bread Machines make bread-making so easy!
It’s no secret that I love my bread machine. What’s not to love about having a machine do all the mixing, kneading and rising when making bread!? But one thing I don’t love about bread machines is the shape of the loaves when the bread is baked right in the machine. So I prefer instead, to shape the dough then bake the bread in my oven. For example, with this recipe, I let the bread machine make the dough, then I shape it into 2 loaves and bake them in my oven.

Makes 2 loaves.
This easy recipe makes 2, 1-pound loaves (medium sized loaves), of slightly sweet soft bread that is perfect as an everyday bread. And I like that we can enjoy one loaf right away, and freeze the other for later.

Condensed Milk Bread Recipe Tips
- FLOUR: Use all-purpose flour or bread flour.
- YEAST: Use fresh instant yeast, also known as Bread Machine Yeast or Rapid Rise Yeast.
- SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK: Use sweetened condensed milk (it’s thick and sweet) NOT condensed milk. It should be at room temperature as cold ingredients do not stimulate yeast growth.
- BUTTER: Use salted butter at room temperature.
- SHAPING THE DOUGH: This recipe makes 2 medium sized loaves, so the dough is shaped into two oblong loaves.
- PREPARE THE BAKING PANS: Grease 2 loaf pans with oil or butter. Or line them with parchment paper.
- STORAGE: Store this bread in an airtight container to keep it fresh. If after a couple of days it dries out a bit, it makes great toast and French toast!
- FREEZING: This bread freezes very well. Let the bread cool completely before freezing. Freeze in large airtight freezer bags for up to 2 months.
- TIP! Don’t try to slice into the bread too soon after baking or you’ll squish it.

Proofing/Rising Tip!
I have a proofing setting on my oven which I use, but you can create a ‘proofing environment’ in your oven oven: preheat your oven to 115 degrees FAHRENHEIT, then turn the oven off once it reaches that temp. Cover the dough in the pan with a clean tea towel, then place it into the oven and let it rise. I also add a bowl of boiling hot water in the oven to let off a little extra moisture.

Bread Machine Condensed Milk Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk (2% or whole) at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tbsp butter at room temperature
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose white flour
- 1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast instant yeast
Instructions
- Add all of the above ingredients, in the order that they are listed, into your bread machine.1 cup milk (2% or whole), 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk, 4 tbsp butter, 1 large egg, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 3 1/2 cups all purpose white flour, 1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast
- Choose the 'Dough Cycle'.
- Once the dough cycle is complete remove the dough to a lightly floured surface, and split it into 2 balls. Then cover the dough with a clean damp tea towel and let it rise for 15 minutes more.
- Prepare the loaf baking pans. I line my pans with parchment paper but you can also grease them with butter.
- After the 15 minute rising time it's time to shape the dough into loaves. Lightly knead each dough ball one more time to get rid of any air bubbles, then roll each ball into an oblong shape that will fit into the baking pan. You want the tops of the loaves to be taut, so while keeping the dough in a tube shape, you need to tuck in the ends into the bottom of the loaf.
- Add the dough to the prepared loaf pans and cover with the damp tea towel and let rise for 30 more minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- When the loaves are done rising, bake for 30 minutes. When the bread is done, it will sound hollow when you tap it and the tops will be golden brown.
- Let the loaves rest in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove so they can cool.
Have a delicious day!
